About Hugo
Who doesn't love a Pizza Roll? But you know how when you make a pizza roll and you want to eat it straight away but then it's molten lava and it burns your mouth because you weren't patient? That's kind of a neat allegory for how it'll be when you adopt me! If you want to rescue me, you'll need to be patient and let me adapt before trying to chase me around and pick me up!
Although my super cool stripes suited the name Pizza Roll, my foster mummy has named me Hugo. I'm a cat's cat, I live with other kitties at the moment, including my new best friend Finley, he's about the same age as me and we love to play. He's showing me the ropes, when its dinner time, to greet mummy at the door when she comes home and its ok to lick yummy treats from her finger - but I'm still struggling with getting any pats or strokes. In fact, I do not like to be touched at all! I will cuddle up with my big foster brother and sister and even lie on my foster mummy's bed, but as soon as I see her hand come close to me, I'm off! My foster mummy was told that I was a bit feisty, but other than the occasional hiss, I'm not that bad. I feel I would be happiest in a home with another young cat so I can slowly learn that you won't hurt me and I can have the company as I do now. I also need a home where I can minimise my exposure to the sun so that my nose and ears are protected from sun damage. I would also be best suited to a quiet home with no young children.
n terms of progress - it has been slow although I have moved house recently so I feel this wouldn't have helped. However, Pizza Roll has done really well integrating with the other cats in the household. He is a cats cat and is playful and affectionate to them. Human contact isn't is favourite, he will follow you around the house, or follow the other cats following me, either way he's not too scared to be close to you but still doesn't like to be touched. If we have put forced love on him he will still hiss, but doesn't bite or scratch. Once held we have been feeding him Dine licky treats which he loves and he is happy to eat that in your arms before jumping to his escape.
His future family will need to be patient with him and put the time in, perhaps another cat in the home would help win over his trust. No young children or sudden movements, but he is a very sweet boy with a cute face. 😊
Fingers crossed...would be lovely to see him accepting a good stroke and a little purr - he's a tough one to crack!
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
