About Baxter
Baxter is a gentle giant, surrendered to BARC and due to a change in his owners circumstances this 42kg boy is in need of a home with a family that has some prior knowledge of guardian breeds such as Maremma's and Pyrenes Mountain Dogs.
Originally breed as shepherd dogs and to guard livestock, dogs like Baxter make excellent family pets when well socialized like our spritely young 7 year old boy here.
Baxter has been a family pet living with young children in a suburban area and would be seeking a similar kind of home. He has been an inside/outside dog and loves cuddle and nose kisses on the couch whilst watching Paw Patrol with the little ones.
Extremely affectionate and gentle this big boy will be a forever loyal and protective companion.
Baxter loves all the attention being on him and is the talk of the town when out for a walk.
Gets along awesome with other dogs and is currently in a play group with another dog while awaiting for his new forever family.
If you think you are ready to be loved by this wonderful boy, have some knowledge of the breed and are prepared for lots of kisses, tail wags and a large shadow then please contact the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre on 5441-2209 to discuss your suitability as Baxter's new family. Baxter is available for adoption by application only, please visit our website to download and complete a pre0-adoption questionnaire and forward to barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
