About Sally
Sally is Adoption Ready.
A wonderful Staghound x Bull Arab mix, this 17 month old girl is such a character.
Sally did not have the best of starts to life, but free of the chain she knew before, she has a absolute zest for life and her unbridled joy at being able to run, jump, chase and play is just breathtaking to see.
Whilst she loves to stretch those long legs, she is equally happy to snooze throughout the day and is just a wonderful companion, who is simply happy to be by your side.
On arrival into care a few short weeks ago, Sally knew nothing about life apart from a chain and her sister.
How far she has come in such a short time is testament not only to her wonderful foster mum (and new fur siblings) but also to the amazing dog she is inside .. her potential is endless.
She has quickly learnt dog food etiquette and has amazing manners eating without issue in the presence of 3 other dogs.
Being chained apart and never having had anything to share, Sally can occasionally still get a bit growly with other dogs over silly things like twigs, a leaf and the odd stuffed toy, but we are sure over time and with consistent correction that will settle too.
She has learnt to confidently go through a dog door and play and reside happily and freely with other dogs of different breeds and sizes.
She has even learnt to use the treadmill, she loves to follow that activity with a cool down in her shell pool.
The pool and water are a particular favourite of hers.
Sally has enormous affection for humans and just loves to be in their presence.
This does mean that until her confidence, trust and life experience grow a little more, she can become a bit anxious when left without human companionship.
She has been learning to walk nicely on a lead but is a strong young dog who will benefit from constant and ongoing training.
Underneath the goofy, zoomie loving, silly, affectionate butterfly she has become, Sally is a quiet, level headed girl who rarely barks.
She doesn't chew, dig or pull washing off the line and is very respectful inside the home.
She sleeps through the night, inside on her own bed which she loves.
She is immediately responsive to verbal correction, is very eager to learn and does now have some basic obedience training.
Sally is a highly adaptable young dog who loves to please, who is food motivated and therefore easy to train.
She came from an environment with a number of young children and was delighted to meet a young boy whilst at the vets recently.
Sally does have a prey drive and therefore is not really suited to cats, pocket pets etc.
She has not been tested with livestock.
Being a young energetic adult, we would not recommend Sally be homed with tiny/ little dogs either.... they are too exciting for Sally at this stage.
But dogs who can match her energy and who like a bit of rough and tumble would be great.
Sally will require secure fencing (6ft)
She travels well in the car and is ok being bathed and having her nails trimmed and ears cleaned.
Sally is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and is up to date with her flea/tick/ worm treatments.
She is located in care at Ridgewood on the Sunshine Coast and her Adoption fee is $495.
If you would like to meet Sally, please send us a detailed message telling us about yourself and the life you could offer this special girl.
We do limit meets and her carer will only contact the best matches, so please do not be afraid to sell yourself.
Thank you.
