About Drift
When the 'rental was asked to describe who I would be if I was a movie or cartoon character, he couldn't go past Hammy from the Over the Hedge franchise.
Hyperactive? Check. Sweet? Check. Does my mouth move as fast as my feet? Err... my feet are faster but anyhoo.... But I do agree I can be very childish in nature with a short attention span. Unless we're talking about my total focus when it comes to my favourite activity in the world - running.
My over-exhuberance at such times may prove too much on those days where it's more hail than shine, but you can bet your last dollar that you'll be "encouraged" to put on them running shoes as we run faster than the speed of light through the neighbourhood streets. I suggest investing in a raincoat.
It's safe to say I would best suit a keen runner, active hiker or sled home - I average a 10k'er a day and still have the hide to look at Dad as if to say "that all ya got?". He's trying to get the better of me and has started hooking me up to a dryland sledding cart. Don't worry, I'll meet his challenge... then raise him some.
Upon our return I promise I'll leave you to your devices, content either by your side, watching the world go by the front window or playing with my squeaky pig.
Now comes time for a confession. Prior to coming into rescue care I was, shall we say, rather notorious for digging under fences or breaking through ones in poor repair. Now that my exercise requirements are being met I feel no need to make any self-bids to freedom. Funny how that works.
When it comes to other canine friends I have a set regime you must follow otherwise things quickly head South. Introductions must start with parallel walks, where I quickly accept them as "pack". Then we're good as gold - just ask my friends the labrador, the cavoodle and the GSD.
You wouldn't want to try that with anything small and furry like cats or pocket pets. Although somewhat ambivalent towards birds, the above plus livestock result in thought bubbles about how best to serve up my din-dins.
I may come across as overly confident within myself but I do shy away from loud noises like storms, fireworks, noisy traffic and really busy environments. 'Rental Brett has been working with me on these and I'm getting much more comfy as each day passes.
Meet my exercise needs with the understanding that, like all good bears, I do enjoy quality down time. By day I'm AOK lounging by the front window or door watching the world go by, perhaps sharing the couch where bum scratches and belly rubs factor high. Or hear me squeak around the home with my favourite toy - the plastic pig - between my pearly whites.
Come night you'll be pleased to know that the bed is all yours. I have my own.
If your life is all about activity and you need a sidekick, shouldn't we have a wee chat to see if we are what each other needs?
