About Ariel
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Ariel (SPECIAL NEEDS KITTEN)
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Ariel was found as a stray when a tiny kitten
ASSETS: Outgoing, friendly, loyal, easy-going, active, energetic and very playful! Ariel is completely deaf so will need a special home with an owner who will take this into account and ensure that she stays safe and happy. She also has a very unusual coat - black with white flecks!
FAVOURITE THINGS: She loves to play with other cats and gets along well with them. Her favourite toys are balls, she loves chasing them all around the house. She's also one of those cats that loves batting things off desks and tables so beware! She's very affectionate in a loyal, devoted way rather than a smoochy/needy way and wants to be with you all the time, keeping an eye on what you're doing. She loves to be cuddled and held and sits on her carer's shoulder like a parrot when she's working on her computer!
OTHER ANIMALS: She would be fine to live with other friendly cats or dogs after gentle, supervised introductions going at her own pace, remembering that she won't hear another animal's vocalisations or approach.
OTHER INFO: Ariel is litter trained and very clean. She is flea-treated, wormed, vaccinated microchipped and desexed. She does become insecure when her carer goes out and likes dark secure places to hide like cupboards/drawers/boxes. As she can't hear it can sometimes take a while to find her. She can startle so her carer gives her gentle strokes to wake her.
IDEAL HOME: Ariel is a special needs kitty so will need a home with someone who understands her disability and will make allowances for the fact that she's deaf. She would love someone who is home most of the time and possibly with older children . A peaceful home with a consistent daily routine would be great. She needs to be kept strictly inside as she won't hear cars/dogs/other cats or people approaching and would love access to a secure outdoor run. This a link to a great article on how to communicate with and train a deaf cat https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/teaching-and-training-a-deaf-cat. It might help you make a decision about whether Ariel is the right cat for you.
If Ariel sounds like the perfect fit, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
