About Sir David - Located in Preston
Sir David is an extremely intelligent, confident and charismatic cat. He's very playful and energetic for an older boy, he absolutely adores tunnels and playing chasey/zooming around the house. He's cuddly and loves head scritches and snuggling in bed. He's also very vocal and chatty, often yodeling around the house when he's hungry or wants some outdoor time.
Sir David is a very big, strong boy, great at opening cupboard doors and taking secret naps inside. He also burrows his way under blankets when he's cold, and you can hear soft snores emitting from a round lump on the bed.
He loves being outside smelling the fresh air and bathing in sunbeams, so it would be great to find him a home with an enclosed/secure outdoor area where he can enjoy the outdoors safely.
Sometimes Sir David gets overexcited when petted or playing and bites/scratches, so he needs a home with no small children. He will usually tolerate being around other cats however much prefers humans and would love a home where he is the only cat.
He has some brown freckles in his left eye which have been given the all clear by the vet, however should be monitored for any sudden changes down the track. He is also FIV+.
Sir David's foster carers absolutely adore him and are happy for him to stay with them until we can find him the perfect forever home.

Medical notes
The adoption fee includes desexing, microchip, current vaccination, flea and worm treatment while in care. No health issues unless listed below.
FIV positive cats live a normal life for many many years and we cannot predict the life span of these cats. FIV positive cats sometimes have a scruffy coat and the condition can lead to chronic recurrent infections in the mouth, eye and skin. FIV cannot infect people, however it can infect other cats through bite wounds commonly from fights. FIV positive cats can co-exist with other cats that don't have FIV without issues.
We encourage that the cat is either an indoor cat or a confined cat - eg access to a cat run outdoors. We recommend regular vet visits (6 monthly) to monitor weight, coat changes, mouth etc.

Sir David has been diagnosed with dental disease and has had a dental procedure which may have included teeth extractions, however dental disease requires ongoing monitoring and may progress further.
Dental disease or Periodontal disease is very common in cats and dogs because unlike us they don’t brush their teeth! It is the formation of plaque and bacteria on the teeth causing inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). As dental disease progresses the gums separate from the teeth and pockets to the roots of the teeth form allowing access for bacteria to create tooth root abscesses and teeth eventually rot and fall out. Untreated dental disease is very painful and dangerous to your pet’s health as it can cause secondary chest infections and permanently damage the liver and kidneys shortening their life span.
Adopters can prevent dental disease by feeding them a dental friendly diet – these have bigger size kibble, giving dental treats like greenies, giving RAW chicken necks or wings a couple of times a week – these are tasty and chewie, adding Plaque Off to their diets. This is a powder that helps prevent new tartar binding to their teeth. Pets already suffering from dental disease may need a dental procedure to clean all the tartar from their teeth and remove any damaged teeth. Most Vet clinics offer FREE dental check-ups and we strongly recommend taking advantage of these every three months as they can assess your pet’s teeth and help tailor a dental regime purrfect for you.
Full details of the procedure will be provided to you and your chosen vet.
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue would like to help ensure you and your new companion have a long and happy life together.
If you should find that you are not a purrfect match - or if you need to rehome your cat at any stage of its life - Maneki Neko Cat Rescue will take the cat back into care and find a new home.
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue provides a 7 day health warranty on all adoptions.
Although all our cats and kittens are health checked prior to adoption, sometimes the stress of a new environment can upset their immune system.
