About Sandy
Little Miss Sandy is an exceptional character. A Kelpie X, with plenty of pluck to make up for her short stature!
Sandy cheerfully trots along with you on whatever adventures the day may hold. She loves to potter with you in the garden or follow along as you go about your daily chores. She will sit on the grass and watch, or snooze happily under the bench in the workshop. Being a young dog, from time to time she will take herself off to flip a pinecone about or grab one of your shoes as a keepsake.
Sandy has learnt to sit and wait for her dinner until an “ok” signals to start eating. She jauntily jogs just behind your heel when you are walking around the property. You will be reminded Sandy is right by your side, as she gives your leg a little poke with her nose from time to time, not wanting you to forget her presence!
Sandy comes when called (most of the time!) and will sit when asked (especially if a treat is on offer!). She can be a bit unsure of getting in the car but enjoys a trip once in the ute tray or the wagon. She travels quietly and waits in the vehicle patiently for you to run your errands at the shops.
Sandy loves a comfy bed to settle down on. When asked inside, she will wait in the entrance before following you happily to her mat in the living room. Staying on her bed and snoozing as you move about the house or settle to watch TV in the evening. Sandy contentedly sleeps outside on a trampoline in the sunroom at night. Often preferring to stay outside, but occasionally sleeping inside if the weather is cold.
Sandy enjoys being off lead when at the beach with her kelpie foster siblings and she is curious of other dogs when passing them on lead. Sandy thinks being a jogging partner is over-rated and would prefer to walk and take in the sights than “exercise”!
Sandy accepts a reprimand when needed from her older kelpie foster sisters and loves razzing about with her playful kelpie foster brother. She can’t quite keep up with their long strides, but a few squeaks will remind them she’s right on their heels! She will readily share a bed with her doggie mates and join in on their ball games. However, it is her humans that Sandy relishes the most. Lying watching you do computer work and pushing her nose into your lap when you sit with her outside.
Sandy is good in the house yard when left home alone and being fostered on acreage, stays around when out in the paddocks with you. Sandy will run after the lure of a kangaroo or a rabbit, but not keeping up for a long distance, will return once the excitement of the chase is gone. Sandy is a little too interested in the chooks but is learning not to chase them when supervised. A calm daily routine with plenty of company will bring the best out in Sandy.
Sandy would be great as an only dog, although with the right doggie mate she would also be happy. She loves a good stroll and hanging out at home. A loyal gardening companion, travelling buddy - a best friend for someone who has time to spend with her! Sandy’s plucky nature is a pleasure to have around. A little bit cheeky and very loveable, Sandy will make a wonderful companion for a very lucky human.
