About Billy
Billy’s not too much of a lab but his luck changed recently when Labrador Rescue jumped in to save him. His time at a rural pound was just about up but no one was looking for a dog like Billy. He had a nasty weepy eye, crusty mosquito-bitten ears and nicks and gouges and lumps and bumps. We just had to save him!
Billy is the sweetest dog ever! The vets aren’t sure of his age and said anywhere between 6 and 9. He has settled in well with my two large dogs and in general is unreactive to other dogs that approach him. He is untested with cats but did not seem bothered with a cat at the vets.
He has been sleeping inside with my dogs at night and only had 2 accidents. I have figured out that he needs to be purposely brought outside to go to the toilet before bedtime and then all is fine.
He has learned to wait for his food to be put in front of him rather than knocking the bowl out of my hands! He is very gentle when receiving treats. He is excellent on the lead and is happy to just trot beside you.
Billy was born with one eye and it does not affect him in any way. He needs his face washed each day just to keep the eye socket clean but it’s not a problem because he actually likes it!
Because he has a bit of arthritis in both knees and his right hip he is currently on a course of cartrophen injections. The arthritis doesn’t seem to bother him too much; he’s still very good at jumping up on the couch and he loves to run around when I take him out.
Billy is most happy when he is stretched out or snuggling on the couch so will suit someone who wants a low maintenance companion to take on walks and bring to their local café. He loves attention and deserves someone who will give him lots of love. I’m sure he will settle in very quickly to a new home where he is comfortable and loved.
Billy is located in Brisbane and is available for adoption. He's been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. He is up to date with all worming and flea & tick treatments. This gorgeous boy is available to the right family for a rehoming fee of $300.
Medical notes
Billy has some arthritis in his knees and hip. He is currently on a course of cartrophen injections.
Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
