About Dallas
Dallas is a 3 1/2 year old Purebred Australian Silky Terrier who loves a familiar environment. He has recently learned to play with toys and entertains himself with small soft toys if at home alone. He waits without issue if home alone and provides an excited welcome when you arrive home. He is very quiet for a terrier and only barks if someone approaches the front door.
Australian Silky Terriers have luxurious coats and Dallas enjoys a quick brush each night before bedtime. He sports a hygiene clip and stands nicely for regular baths and trims. He has a great routine and heads outside for breakfast and toileting each morning and enjoys spending the day in a small yard or adventuring around inside. He is crate trained and a travel crate is provided with his adoption to assist with transitioning into his new home.
Dallas is currently sharing a home with a German Shepherd, 2 cats, numerous caged birds and a toddler. He also shared a yard for a short time with another younger small breed dog. He is a very well mannered little man and would ideally suit someone who is looking for a single dog as a companion, as he is very affectionate and loves being nearby - either following you about, sleeping near your feet or in your lap. While Dallas would quite likely handle visiting children, he does become quite startled by childrens fast movements, bikes, scooters etc, so he would likely be much happier in a home without children.
If you are looking for a dog to walk around the neighbourhood, Dallas is not for you. He walks well on a loose leash, but can become quite overwhelmed by new environments and would be much more comfortable in a familiar home and yard where he can relax. His exercise requirements are adequately met in a home with a small yard, as he is a lively little guy who will be quite happy helping you in the kitchen or garden. He enjoys car travel, but has difficulty when launched into new environments. He was very good for our vet and stands nicely for grooming.
Dallas's adoption includes a large travel crate, his bed and bedding, and familiar toys to assist with settling into his new home. His pedigree paperwork is also included as part of his Rehoming Report which details all available information.
We recommend that his new owner provide a baby gate to assist with Dallas's transition. (Unfortunately, due to previous adopters not returning these, we can no longer provide them)
If you think your home is missing this little man, please send through an application and let us know about your family dynamic, yard and fencing, work/availability, and any previous dog or breed experience.
Please understand that applications that do not address the above request may not be considered.
Medical notes
Dallas was recently vet checked, vaccinated and has no known medical issues.
His Flea & Tick, Heart and Intestinal Worming Schedule is included in his Rehoming Report.
