About Wally
Meet Wally!
He is a gorgeous 8 to 10 month old puppy who is a super-smart and handsome! He was rescued from the pound so we have no information about his previous life. We think he is a Labrador-Kelpie cross with a dash of Border collie. He has a slight build with a glossy short-hair coat and bright light brown or amber eyes.
Wally gets along well with his foster Labrador brother and sister and has settled very well with us. Because he is so smart and eager to please, he is very easy to train. Since he is a puppy, he is quite excitable but is quickly learning his manners. We think he was left to his own devices in the garden for extended periods of time, or locked in the laundry, when all he wants is to be with his people! He has bonded quickly with me and has really blossomed.
Wally is house-trained and is good on a leash. He needs a daily walk, twice a day would be better. He travels well in a car. He sleeps well on his bed in our room without need of a crate. He was also very jumpy when he came to us, and still needs reinforcement and consistency, but he knows. He also knows how to open sliding doors if they aren’t locked!
Wally is very loving and sweet-natured. He still reacts to cats and has learned that they are really not the herding type of creatures. We haven’t tested him with small children. Wally would prefer to have another dog for company if left for long periods of time.
Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
