About Harriet D1089
This wonderful girl is Harriet. She loves being close to her humans and is always excited to receive pats and fuss from everyone, adults and children; people she knows as well as strangers saying hi to her.
Harriet enjoys a walk on the lead and walks willingly but with stops and starts and weaving, so is not loose leash yet as she learns the ropes. It appears she has not had much exercise in her past life, so she will need to work up some muscle mass through increasing gentle walks/swims (she really love the river but is rather frightened of the waves at the beach!)
Harriet appears to be social around the dogs she encounters although she is not overly interactive with strange dogs (eg at the park) and can bark if she sees a group of dogs, which seem to get her excited. She does get friendlier with dogs she knows, but her play style is quite boisterous (hasn't learned good manners just yet!) so she most likely won't suit a home with dominant male dogs, old or frail dogs, and most likely would be best sharing her yard with a medium dog due to her energy and playfulness, or we believe she'd love a home as the only dog as her real love is humans! She has not been cat tested.
Harriet doesn't seem too sure about obedience commands such as sit, drop, paw, and usually ends up laying down belly up for rubs instead! As she gets to know her new home she will gain confidence and be happy to learn new commands.
Her carer currently takes her outside regularly to toilet and has had no toileting accidents indoors thus far.
Harriet is really a people dog and would prefer a home where someone is home quite a bit of the time. She seems ok when no-one is home but if you are at home indoors, then that is where Harriet prefers to be, and will 'woof' to come in if you leave her outside. She is looking for a loving, inclusive home where she'll be a big part of your family. Harriet seems to like children although can sometimes jump up when excited so maybe kids over 8 might be best for her.
Harriet is available for adoption from 13 Dec and is ready to meet her potential new family now.
