About Mr Jackson
Jack is a bright little guy, who is looking for his best friend. He has grown up with a family and his best friends have been a young child and her grandmother. Jack is quite comfortable with an active household and would be his happiest in a home with someone who has high availability and is looking for a companion dog. He is currently living both indoors and outdoors, but definitely prefers his indoor time where he can trot along beside you during activity and curl up on a chair nearby for rest time.
Jack Russell Terriers are naturally assertive little dogs. Jack arrived fearful of big dogs and has been meeting other dogs and is currently sharing his home with a German Shepherd. He very quickly pulled rank and continues to assert himself on occasions. Ideally, he would be better suited as a solo dog, where he can busy himself being the number 1 dog and soak up all of your attention.
He likes routines and looks forward to 3 small meals a day around his regular rest times. He enjoys long naps up on a chair where he can peep out of one eye and ensure all is well in his world, and would not hesitate if given the chance to share your bed. He's not particularly interested in toys, but he swings into playful action if an ant, gecko or mouse is silly enough to wander into your property.
Jack has lived alongside a number of cats and caged birds without issue, but he is not recommended for people who have hand tamed birds, guinea pigs or reptiles. Jack Russell's are flushing dogs.. bred to chase and push small creatures out of hiding and this breed trait remains high in Jack.
Jack's recall is very good and he comes reliably when called. He can Sit and Wait and is both toilet trained and crate trained. He walks well on a loose leash and loves travelling in the car. He is currently residing behind 180cm fencing and any alone time is spent in an enclosed patio.
Jack Russell Terriers typically live between 12 and 16 years, and Jack is a very fit 7 year old dog. He does not display any juvenile behaviours and has a steady disposition when confident about his environment and people. He is not a yappy dog and alerts with single alert barks to communicate if a stranger arrives or a storm is approaching.
Jack will go to his new home with our Rescue to Rehoming report which includes all historical information available, his vet treatment history, and care and training notes. His bed and bedding, transitional food and a crate for use during storms will also be provided. Jack has difficulty with thunder and will let you know when a storm is rolling in by seeking sanctuary in his storm shelter (crate).
If you think Jack may be the little mate you have been looking for, we invite you to send through an application letter. Please let us know about your home/family dynamic, your fencing, your availability/time at home and any previous experience you have with dogs and/or his breed. You are also encouraged to let us know where you are travelling from and when you are available to attend a meet with Jack. Jack is located in North Brisbane.
Medical notes
Jack is in good health and does not require any medication.
