About Max
Good Day!
My name is Max and I am a middle aged kelpie mix (I’m about 5 or 6, but who’s counting, eh). When I am not trundling along on a morning walk, you can find me enjoying naps in various locations around the house. I am very much an inside dog, if you don’t mind, thank you. My two absolute favourite places to sleep are people beds and also the middle of the kitchen floor. I’ll move along if you ask me, but otherwise I will just snore away happily.
As I am not a young whippersnapper, I am not out to chase toys or to go on long early-morning runs. My younger foster siblings are all about that madness. Me, on the other hand, I enjoy morning sleep-ins, luxurious breakfasts and ambles around town. Rather than walk quickly from A to B, I really like to just enjoy myself and to have a good sniff. It’s important that I keep up-to-date on who else has been in my neighbourhood, I’m sure you understand.
I like to think of myself as an even tempered guy. I like other dogs, but I am not particularly fussed about being around them. I am happy to play with well mannered dogs, but then I am happy to go on my way. Although, sometimes I do enjoy a bit of a frisk with dogs that I know well. These are brief moments in time, between my naps. On the odd occasion, I enjoy making “woo” noises while I am frisking…these noises just come out of me. I can’t help myself.
Small humans are a novelty to be tolerated. I especially like to tolerate them when they are eating. I understand that small humans are often the givers of delicious food, but I am not going around telling other dogs that. I mean, if I did I would have competition. The small human I current reside with often passes me tidbits, which I take gently from her. I don’t seek her out, but she often comes to me and gives me pats. I enjoy pats, so this is acceptable.
I would like to find a family to live with long term. I used to live with a family and they loved me very much, but their circumstances changed. I really want to find my forever family so I can amble and snore the day away. I am a wonderful companion, easygoing, friendly, and cheerful guy. I walk nicely on the lead, recall to my name, sit for food and am respectful of the humans and dogs in my life.
(No jokes about my ears, please. It’s terribly rude)
Profile Notes:
Max is a kelpie mix, I don’t think he is pure kelpie
He is probably about 26/27 kg, he is a BIG kelpie.
Max would be fine without another dog around, but needs people around.
I have not had any escape attempts from Max, but I have left him inside or given him access to my house when I go out. He lays on my bed when I go out.
Max is gentle, doesn’t jump

Adoption details
Please go to our website to complete an adoption application form for this dog. www.soulmates4lifedogrescue.com.au/adopt/apply
Filling out an adoption application does not commit you to adopting a dog.
Once we receive your application we will put you in contact with the dog's foster carer to have a chat about the dog and whether it is the right fit for your family. The carer will then arrange a meet and greet with you and your potential new dog.
A volunteer from our rescue will also contact you to arrange a home inspection to make sure the home and yard is safe and secure. If all goes well, the dog will go on a 21 day trial to make sure that they dog fits into your lifestyle. And then you will live happily furever after.
Please note that there is no trial period for puppies, only for adult dogs over the age of 6 months.
