About Talie
microchip no:900164001718954
Hi I am Talie and I am a 6yo Labrador x looking for my new very special family. My life to this point was rather miserable - I needed help and I was so lucky that this lovely organization decided to take a chance on me and show me that life can be good again. With the loving help of my carers and fur brother I am becoming confident, more relaxed and at times am showing a cheeky side that I didn’t even know I had. I’m also learning socialization skills, which I never had a chance to develop in my former life.
I love to get out and about and very much enjoy my walks or running around sniffing all the magical smells. I am fit and would make a good jogging companion, hiking companion or walking companion. I don’t have endless energy but I can keep up when I need to and when home I will curl up on my bed again! I am a very placid girl when in the house and I have no interest in chewing on your possessions or destroying my bedding. I love face and ear rubs and starting to enjoy my tummy rubs too, but my favourite thing is to curl up next to you for a pat and a snuggle when I get to know you better. But if you don’t like me getting on your bed or furniture that’s OK, as long as I can be near you I will also happily curl up on my designated spot.
I am a curious girl and love to sit by a window and watch the goings on around me. In the mornings, before my walk, you will see my cheeky playful side as I am so excited you are up, out of bed and ready to take me for a walk. I will also reward you with non-containable tail wagging and excitement when you return home to me after an outing as I can’t wait to be near you again.
My manners have improved and I have learnt to sit, drop, stay and come when called. I am learning to wait until I am calm and invited into the house and also to wait for my meals which is very hard for me because I REALLY love food – ah-ha that must be where the Labrador part comes in!
Sadly, I still remember some of my old life and can be slightly shy and retreating until I learn to trust you ( just quietly - yummy treats always help to earn my trust!). Once you won my heart, there is no stopping me – I will follow you around all day and would love to be where you ALL are at the time. This also applies to other dogs; I am a bit nervous to start with, but after a nice, calm introduction, within a short period of time I am relaxed and happy to follow them around as well.
Cats however ( or any other small animals), are different story - I’d need a home without any pocket pets.
I would really enjoy a fur sibling of similar size to hang out with and maybe teach me about playtime, but I will also do OK if left by myself for few hours - I love to play with kongs and treat balls to keep me occupied. Due to my shyness and fear of fast, sudden hand movements I would prefer a company of mature humans rather than young children or teenagers that are looking for a dog to play energetic games with. Calm cuddles are my preferred pastime
After being in care for a while, I’m becoming much more confident in my ways, and my foster mum thinks I’m truly ready for a forever home of my own. If you have a lot of love to give and can commit to ongoing training, I’d love to become your faithful companion and/or exercise buddy.

Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
