About Polly |Rare Find
Good with Other Dogs
Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 7 yrs
Toilet Trained
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Polly is a beautiful, warm natured dog and a rare find - good with other dogs, cats, kids, is quiet and obedient. Her only foible is that she does not like to be alone without her human family for extended periods otherwise she becomes distressed.
Polly is usually a very relaxed dog and a joy to have around especially with children where she is gentle and calm. When kids who are unknown to her approach, Polly sits down to let them pat her.
She never snatches treats, sits and waits patiently, really enjoys walks and loves company.
At times Polly can find being without her family distressing which leads to her trying to get out of the yard to go searching. She doesn't jump but usually tries to break through the timber gate - even pulling palings off.
She does not like fireworks, lightning or thunder.
Polly has been a cherished family member but needs more companionship than her family can provide.
Ideal Owner
Polly will suit someone seeking a gentle, loyal and devoted companion who is home more often than not. As Polly is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
She does not need to be the only permanent dog in the home but this will not replace her desire for human company.
Polly will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, time poor or seeking a babysitter for their current lonely doggy.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Polly is quiet and rarely makes a sound.
She will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees.
She prefers human company - fine for a few hours - but can then become anxious, sad or even stops eating. She cannot usually be alone for more than half a day maximum but at times is not fazed at all.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk). She loves outings, socialising, walking, going to the park and meeting new friends but is also happy to hang around at home as long as her owners are home too.
When ON a lead ...
Polly is well behaved and never pulls - and will sit when told.
When OFF a lead ...
She usually stays close by and comes when called - occasionally distracted if playing with other dogs or chasing a ball.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure with shoulder height fencing.
While her family are home she will not wander however, when alone she can get distressed and try to get out to find her loved ones.

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
