About Benji.. Waiting on his best mate
Benji was found abandoned outside a small country town in the Hunter region of NSW and spent some time waiting for his owner to come and collect him. When this didn't happen, The Brisbane Adoption Centre organised for him to make the long trip to Queensland to begin a new life.
Benji is available at a reduced rate with a huge thankyou to Vet Supersavers in Kallangur who donated his desexing, microchipping and all vetwork.
Benji is a bright young dog, who arrived at The Canine Transformation Station underweight, undernourished and unwell. He has responded really well to care, attention and training and is now a healthy, fit dog, who is his happiest when you are working in the yard or shed and he can follow you about helping to make sure the work gets done. He has a great personality, and will happily respond to obedience requests with a pat as his reward. He has very good recall and will bound over with a big grin to receive a pat.
Benji has learned to Sit, Settle, Wait and Lay Down. He will take his Place on his bed, and wait nicely for his dinner bowl. He can fetch and will return and release a tennis ball. He loves play time and is also enjoys water play and a game of soccer. He has learned to walk on leash and enjoys his walk time. He is generally a quiet dog, however he has an impressive big deep bark that you will only hear if a stranger approaches.
Benji is currently living with a 2 year old, caged birds, cats and other dogs. He is toilet trained and will stand by the door when he needs to go out. He is currently an outdoor dog with indoor access. He waits without issue and would have no problem living with a working family if he had access to a paddle pool, soccer ball and toys as he happily occupies himself. He is also large crate trained.. having spent a considerable amount of time confined while waiting in the pound.
Benji's breed combination has been the subject of lots of conversation and DNA Testing is currently underway. The results will be made available to his new owner as soon as they are available and are included in his adoption.
Benji enjoys the company of other dogs and happily shares his current yard with another older Shepherd, however he does need to be fed separately as its likely this boy went hungry for a long time and his regular meals are currently a highly regarded resource. He is currently on two meals a day and he has a good appetite. It's very clear that he loves humans and is looking for that special human to be his best mate. While he would make a good doggy playmate, he really does deserve a good human connection.
If you would like to meet Benji with a view to adoption, visits are available for meets this Sunday in Joyner, North Brisbane. Please include your best times to visit when sending through your application :)
Medical notes
Benji is healthy and fit, and has no known medical issues.
