About Duke (& Maggie)
Good with Other Dogs
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 12 yrs (the dogs need a quite and calm environment)
Toilet Trained
Ideal Owner
Maggie and Duke need a quiet and calm environment with an attentive and doting owner that will prioritise the dogs. They need to be welcome to be involved in family activities. You will need to be able to cope with a breed that is prone to skin allergies.
They will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, full time workers or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but are not currently nuisance barkers. They will suit any of the following:
someone home more often than not
empty nesters
active retirees
stay at home parents with older kids.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
They love to be close to their human family, playing in the park and spending time with each other. They are also cheeky, affectionate, friendly and inquisitive.
The breed is prone to skin allergies but this should be improved with less stress and more attention than they are currently getting.
Exercise Requirements
Low - short strolls or playtime at home.
When ON a lead ...
Well behaved.
When OFF a lead ...
Will stay close by and come when called.

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
