About Oskar
See Oskar's Movie https://youtu.be/VAVoPJHu8rI
Generally.
Think Scooby Doo, Pluto and Snoopy all rolled into one.
Oskar is goofy, sometimes uncoordinated, loyal, affectionate and smart.
He can take a while to come out of his shell with new people but on the flip side can be 'hyper' when meeting new dogs - he likes meeting new friends. Oskar loves being patted so much he will gently use his paw to bring your hand back to him hoping for more if you stop.
This ‘big sook’ will also alert you to something strange about the property and is loyal to those he loves. He is not a nuisance barker though.
Oskar needs a secure, interesting yard. Head strong at times, this well meaning and sweet ‘teenager’ will thrive in a home that is firm but kind.
Ideal home.
Oskar will suit a family with a moderately active lifestyle that want a dog to be involved with family activities. Oskar also needs a secure yard with high fencing and any kids need to be a little older so they won’t be knocked over by an exuberant, goofy and happy dog.
Oskar will not suit homes where residents are very young, frail, elderly or time poor.
Other dogs?
Yes. Oskar is a friendly and playful young boy that never seems to run out of steam.
Cats?
No
Kids?
Yes. Oskar loves his human siblings. As he can accidentally knock someone small over we recommend any kids be at least primary school aged and only if gentle and calm around animals.
Size.
30 kgs.
Exercise requirements?
Medium - playful and moderately active. He will forgive you if you miss a day.
How is this dog on a lead?
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles, especially on a halti harness.
How is this dog off the lead?
Oskar can be a little cheeky and send everyone on a game of chase. He tends to take off and won't come back.
Escape artist?
Yes. Oskar needs a secure medium to large yard or acreage with 6 foot fencing.
Nuisance barker?
No
Destructive?
No
Toilet trained?
Yes
Tolerance to being alone.
Yes
Likes.
Going for walks and playing with his family. Oskar loves to give and receive cuddles too. His favourite treats are carrots and rawhides.
Dislikes.
Strangers and vacuum cleaners.

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
