Bowie is a 6yo Miniature Pinscher, who is looking for a home with a calm and confident person with a good knowledge of dog behaviour. He is a sensitive boy, and has so much love to give to someone special.
Bowie has lived with a number of other dogs, and gets on well with dogs around his size (he's around 7kg). Bigger dogs are okay as long as they are polite and respect his personal space, and he's more than happy to share the couch with our greyhound. He doesn't like bouncy, in-your-face dogs. A home with another calm, adult dog would be good for Bowie.
Cuddles and human contact are a must-have for Bowie, as he is super-affectionate. He would do best with someone who is home most of the time, as in his previous home he always had someone around for company. If he had another dog friend, he would be okay to be left for short periods of time, once he settles in.
Bowie is used to living in a quiet home, however he has adapted well to our busier home, with all of our other dogs and our three teenage children. He is quite a sociable boy, and is happy to meet new friends if they approach him with respect and gentleness. It is important that Bowie's new humans are confident when introducing him to new situations, so that he knows he is safe and doesn't have to be worried. Bowie can become anxious in unfamiliar situations, and this is something that we would work with his new people to manage and improve.
We feel Bowie is best suited to a child-free home, or a home with sensible teenage children, who have a good understanding of how to behave around dogs. He can tend to guard his food and other precious items, so he needs someone who is understanding of this and can continue to work with him to help him to relax more.
As a Miniature Pinscher, Bowie has a short, easy-care coat, and maintenance is basically keeping his toenails trimmed, his teeth clean, and giving him the occasional bath. He is a healthy boy, who has always been well-looked after.
If you are interested in offering Bowie a calm and loving home, please contact me by phone or email for an application form and a chat.
