About Steve **On trial with my new family**
My name is Steve. I am five years old and was retired from racing. My trainer described me as “one of a kind”. My neighbour describes me as a “glass half full kind of guy”. My foster Mum couldn’t agree more - she says she’s never met anyone or anything as affectionate as me! I just crave it. I am like a famous celebrity in my street – everyone adores me!
The kids sprint across the local park screaming my name with their arms wide open for cuddles and some people even come out of their cars and houses to say hello and pat me. I have no complaints! The more love and affection, the better I say! When my foster Mum comes home, or we have visitors, I tend to howl and jump out of pure excitement, but she is working with me to control this and I do settle down shortly after. I am absolutely loving my life outside of racing – there are so many people to meet, friends to make, places to explore and cuddles to be had! I don’t mind where we go, I just love being out and about – the park, the beach, the café, the car, I enjoy it all! I just feel completely high on life.
I love my food, toys and naps but nothing comes even remotely comes close to a good cuddle. I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to be adopted by anyone with mobility issues or a family with really young children – I wouldn’t mean to, but I may accidentally trip you up – I just like to be as close as possible to my people.
I am extremely friendly with other dogs. Large, small or inbetween, theyre all my friends. I even make friends with chickens!
Cats unfortunately I'm no good with, sorry.
I lift my leg and mark in unfamiliar places and have about a 98% success rate with weeing outside – I am still getting the hang of living in a home. I can be a little unsettled when my human is out of my sight or leaves the house out without me but I have come a very long way. I LOVE sleeping on my foster Mum’s bed with her, but am also happy on my own bed.
I have brightened my foster Mum’s world so much – I make her laugh everyday with my goofiness, personality and infectious love of life. I am just so easy to love. She will be devastated to see me go – she says she will miss having me near but her loss will be a massive gain for my future family. I promise to give copious amounts of love and affection to whoever decides to adopt me. If you like what you’ve read, please enquire about me. I am eagerly awaiting the cuddles!
