About Jarrah
Hi my name is Jarrah and I am an absolute sweet heart! I am almost 2 years old and my thick fluffy coat means I am an alpine dingo.
The shelter volunteers describe me as a gentle, shy cuddle-bug and if you are looking for a laid back, unassuming buddy who loves heard rubs and ear scratches I'm you're guy! I even love sitting on laps if you'll let me.
I'm still a big puppy in many senses, at 2 years old I love to play, stuffed toys and anything that makes a fun sound like sqeakers are my favorites.
I was rescued from a bad breeding situation at a private zoo/wildlife park and so I haven't had much experience with the outside world. I'm still getting used to riding in the car and walking on lead, but I am a fast learner and really I just want to go where my human friends are going! The rescue has fantastic trainers who can give ongoing advice on how to continue my training once you take me home.
I am great with other dogs and dingoes and would love a home with another canine companion (though this is not essential). I am good with older kids and adults. No cats, pocket pets, birds of livestock please unless we can be kept entirely separated.
FENCING-
Like all dingoes Jarrah is a fantastic climber and digger, and will require one of the following:
- a dog enclosure with a roof
- a secure 1.8m fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/)
- OR a 2.2m fence
Sydney Fox Rescue are able to provide dingo proofing for your existing yard for between $200-500 depending on the size of the yard. We can also provide and install 6m x 6m dingo enclosures for approx. $500.
Please note SFR do not rehome dingoes to homes without a dog enclosure or modified dog fence like the one described above.
PERMITS- no permit is required to own a dingo or dingo hybrid in NSW at the present time.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Camden shelter or their foster carers home and let us find the right furry family member for you.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
