About Pip
Labrador Rescue took Mary into care as an emergency foster at the urgent request of a local country pound. Mary was about to give birth and the pound could not staff for that over the Xmas shut down. As Mary is such a sweet girl, staff were very keen to get her into safe hands. Mary went on to have 8 pups born on Xmas Eve. A wonderful mum, she sadly developed dire medical needs when her babies were nearly two weeks old and headed in for emergency surgery. Carers then set about hand raising the babies as Mary was no longer able to feed or care for them.
These babies have been bottle fed first then graduated to lapping formula out of bowls, then eating mush and have finally made it to eating dry puppy food out of bowls and drinking water. Such progress in so short a time. They are also on their way to being house trained, to knowing their names and coming when called. The pups are growing up in two different households but are with other adult dogs, people large and small (toddlers to adults) and a cat, ducks and chickens in one household. They are being well socialized and are experiencing life out of doors and inside family life and sounds.
Pip is a medium sized boy and is living with his bigger brother Drummer, little sister Nola and an English Springer Spaniel and Labrador foster mums. He is almost pure white but has some soft dapples visible on each ear. They are slowly developing in colour and as yet we can't decide if they will be black or brown dapples.
Pip was the first of these three pups to come to a soft hand clap. He has developed a close bond with his (human) foster father and loves to toddle off down the path in pursuit helping to water the garden. He was the first to walk all the way around to the back on his own four legs to explore new territory with his sister following while Drummer stopped for a carry three quarters of the way round.
Pip will ask to go out for a poo and is on the way to house training. He has a spirit of adventure and will head off to explore the garden or to do some much needed pruning. He loves to play with his squeaky toys and will play a good game of tug o war with his siblings or foster carers. He is unfazed at being checked out by his much larger canine foster mums.
Life for Pip is eat, play and sleep then wake up and do it all again. This boy is a real snuggler and will often come and sit at his carer's feet and ask to be picked up for a cuddle when it is nap time. He loves falling asleep on a lap or lying on his back in his carer's arms having a gentle belly rub. Puppy bliss!.
Like all pups, these little ones will need to go to a home with either a mature, social adult dog or a stay at home human to continue the critical socialisation all pups need to develop into well balanced adult dogs. New owners should be committed to taking these little ones to puppy school then on to obedience training to develop them properly. As all puppies bite and chew, a home with children over 10 years of age is best for all too.
Pip is located in Canberra ACT and is available for interstate adoption. Pip will come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm and intestinal worm treated with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family for a re-homing fee of$400.

to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
