About Ollie ~ Mastiff x Great Dane (On Trial 30/4/16)
Hi! My name is Ollie and I am a male, 11 month old Bullmastiff x Great Dane, but I have been told a few different things, so I don't really know my exact breed. But as you can see they have combined to make me pretty handsome. I also an pretty sweet, most of the time, and I just want to please people and make them as happy as I am. I like to be outside and inside when I'm at home, but I'll stay outside while you're away from the house.
I was originally adopted from the Hunter RSPCA by my current owners when I was 7 months old, but sadly they are not able to keep me, due to some things changing. They think that I would be best suited to a family that had a bit more time for me. I love being around people and other dogs, and while I do ok at home alone, I don't like being left alone every day. I go to Newcastle Pet Resort 2 days a week, so I can socialise with other dogs and so I don't get too bored at home. When I don't go to pet resort I like to be walked every day.
I have fair bit of energy, and I sometimes get over excited. I can't help it, I'm young and just love to play! I shouldn't be around young children until I'm a bit older. I really like them, but I forget how big I am and could accidently knock one over. When my owners first got me, they didn't like that I mouthed them a lot. I didn't realise that I shouldn't mouth hard, as no-one ever taught me. I am still working on this, and I only do it soft now, but I still need to learn not to do it at all.
I have been doing some doggy training, and I know how to sit, stay, lay down, spin, shake, get up and stand. I am a quick learner and have excelled at training class and graduated at the top of my class! I can play fetch, but sometimes I forget to bring the ball back. I'm too excited to get the treat at the end! I have also learnt to jump over things, but still only up to a small level. I don't usually bark much, except when I want to play and if I get a bit scared.
I am house trained. I sleep in my kennel in the laundry. I sleep through the night, without a fuss. As I'm still young, please don't leave things out in the yard that you don't want chewed but do provide me with plenty of toys to chew. I'm very good in the car.
When I am out in the park, or going for a walk, I am very well behaved on the lead. I will happily ignore other dogs in their yards, and won't bother other dogs, unless they are right up in my face. I'm usually well behaved off the lead. But, if there are dog friends to play with I might not come back until I'm finished playing. So far, I haven't met a dog that I don't like. But I do get a bit rough when I play, and this can scare other dogs a bit, so my owners need to keep an eye on me.
I would love a house that has a nice backyard, possibly another dog, if I get along with them. I love my little kiddie pool too, as I like to splash around. I would like my new owners to be reasonably active, and would hope they take me for walks every day. I think it would be best if the children weren't too young, as I might get excited and jump on them. I need a few toys to play with as I am still growing out of chewing things. I love to hunt for food, and open parcels that are wrapped up for me. If you have the time and energy to put into me I will be the best, most loving, dog anyone could ask for! I just need a little time to grow up a bit.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
