About Diesel
If listed here please be reassured the dog is still available. After reading the profile below, if you would like to meet the dog please complete this form http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
Diesel and Roxy must be re-homed together. An affectionate, loyal and trusting pair.
Other dogs
Both have been good with other dogs in the past. In recent years they have been isolated. They play and interact well with each other but will need time to warm to new doggy friends. Roxy is more social and will look after Diesel if he is picked on.
Cats
We recommend a home without cats. Diesel is not good with cats but Roxy is fine, unless Diesel reacts and then she follows his lead.
Kids
Both have previously been fine. But as Diesel can easily be startled we recommend any children be teenagers and older. Diesel does not like a loud and/or chaotic household. Preference will be given to a household without children.
Size
Both are 7 kgs
Exercise requirements
Medium - playful and energetic. Both have a great time with toys and love playing with each other.
How is your dog on a lead?
They will start off excited and then calm down, only pulling if another dog comes along. They do tend to bark at other dogs.
How is the dog off the lead?
They are currently on acreage and will come if you have a treat. However, as neither are used to suburbia they are unlikely to come back when called at this stage. Neither has any road sense.
Escape artist
Not usually but Diesel does need very secure fencing because if he is startled or becomes scared e.g. thunder, he will try and flee. Roxy will follow Diesel.
Nuisance barker or destructive?
They are not currently nuisance barkers but will alert you if someone strange is about. Roxy is unlikely to do any damage but Diesel may occasionally nibble on something if bored.
Toilet trained
Yes but they have been outside for a while.
Tolerance to being alone
You can leave Diesel and Roxy as long as they have each other for company.
Likes
Roxy loves attention, cuddles and pats. She is always running around with a toy in her mouth. Diesel loves the ball being thrown for him and ad-ventures to the park. Both adore people and are very affectionate. They will need a demonstrative, warm and kind owner.
Dislikes
Roxy is an easy going little dog and not much upsets her. Diesel is more timid and will be frightened by loud noises, thunderstorms, lightning large balls and toys that make noise.
Ideal home
You will need to be a very affectionate dog lover prepared to shower them with cuddles, pats and oodles of love. Preference will be given to folks where someone is home more often than not. Active empty nesters looking for two adorable fury companions would love these dogs. Diesel does not like loud noises and will start to shake. He will need to be soothed during certain events e.g. thunder storms, fireworks. Diesel is a cute little lap dog. While he can display some nervousness if startled he is normally very affectionate.

Generally
Both are adorable little dogs. Roxy has a beautiful nature and will easily become your best friend. She will gently nudge you for a cuddle, is very loyal and easy-going. Roxy tends to ‘mother’ Diesel and also follows his lead. Diesel is also very cute, loving, affectionate loyal and trusting once he knows you. He needs time to warm to strangers.
Adoption details
1) Read the dog's profile
2) Complete the expression of Interest form
http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
3) Speak to the carer and arrange a meeting
4) House assessment is completed
5) Adoption is completed with a minimum 2 week cooling off period (similar to a trial but with legal protection)
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
