On Hold
About Lela
Super smart, playful and affectionate. Endless loyalty, relaxed and low maintenance.
Other dogs
There has never been a problem. Matty can sometimes get startled if a strange dog rushes up excitedly into her face especially if they are dominant.
Does your dog tolerate any other animals not mentioned so far?
Yes. They are fine with most animals if monitored initially. They have been trained to leave birds alone.
Cats
They have never met one but the carer believes it is likely to be ok if monitored initially.
Kids
Both dogs love kids. But they might accidentally knock a little child over if excited. We always recommend teenagers and older as a precaution.
Size
Matty 25 kgs. Lela 21 kgs.
Exercise requirements
Medium - playful and energetic. Daily walks and a big yard to play in is a necessity but otherwise they love relaxing!
How is your dog on a lead?
Starts off pulling but settles down nicely.
How is your dog off the lead?
Will stay close by and come when called. They are really good walking off lead until they see another potential doggy friend to play with and may then run over to say hello.
Escape artist
Normal secure fencing and things to do while you are away will avoid any attempts to escape.
Nuisance barker or destructive?
They will alert you if someone strange is about but are not usually nuisance barkers.
Toilet trained
Yes. They stay basically on their bed for 12 hrs during the night and wake in the morning and let you know by shacking their collar if they need to go out.
Tolerance to being alone during the day?
Yes. As long as they have each other and get a nice long walk either before or after work.
Likes
CUDDLES, attention, love! Running in the forest, play, KONGs full of food, big bones and going out. Most of all they love human affection.
Dislikes
Being ignored and not having a comfortable bed.
Ideal home
An active young couple or family who have experience with dogs and the time/skills to continue their training. You will also need to be affectionate and demonstrative with dogs as they are both ‘people orientated' and very smoochy.
Generally
Matty and Lela are highly intelligent dogs and learn quickly. This is why they need a firm but kind owner who will be the leader of the pack so you can engage them but will also be affectionate and eagerly express their love for the dogs. Both dogs are generally very relaxed and laid back. Matty and Lela have enormous hearts and trust people without question. Hence they need a home with people who will not exploit their beautiful nature. In return they will give you unconditional love and loyalty.

Adoption details
1) Read the dog's profile
2) Complete the expression of Interest form
http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
3) Speak to the carer and arrange a meeting
4) House assessment is completed
5) Adoption is completed with a minimum 2 week cooling off period (similar to a trial but with legal protection)
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
