About Poppy
Good with cats !!
Other dogs
Yes. Poppy is friendly and social but like many dogs if a nasty angry dog picks a fight she will not back down. ''I really enjoyed meeting Poppy today. Poppy is a beautiful girl. She just loves the ball and enjoys swimming when she gets too hot. She was good around other dogs and warmed to me very quickly. Her carer said she is great around the house, and is very good with children,'' said Jo, who recently met Poppy and took some of the photos.
Cats
Yes. She visits friends with cats and tends to just look at them
Kids
Yes but she may accidentally knock one over with her happy enthusiasm. She can get a little excited when playing. We recommend primary school aged kids and older.
Size
35 kgs
Exercise requirements
Medium.
How is your dog on/off a lead?
Like most dogs she starts off pulling when on the lead but settles down nicely. When off the lead she will stay close by and come when called.
Escape artist
Poppy will take advantage of an open gate or low fence if left alone for long periods of time but she is unlikely to want to leave when her family are at home.
Nuisance barker or destructive?
If left alone for more than 5-6 hours she may start to bark if not left something to do like play with interesting toys or another friendly dog.
Toilet trained
Yes
Tolerance to being alone
Poppy needs secure fencing. She will only try and get out to find you if left alone for long periods of time but this will be less likely if she has a doggy friend to play with. She may suit a home where you work full time as long as she has plenty to occupy her when alone.
Likes
She loves chasing balls and swimming!!!
Dislikes
Very submissive when first meeting people but doesn't take long to come around.
Ideal home
Poppy would love a moderately active family that are wanting a furry friend as an integral part of the family. You will need to have a secure yard and normal 6 foot high fencing.
Generally
Loves getting out for a run and really enjoys time with her human family. Poppy is very affectionate, loyal, sweet and playful without getting aggressive. When meeting new people or dogs Poppy tends to be cautious and may back away. However, within a short time she will realise there is no threat and quickly come out and play.

Adoption details
1) Read the dog's profile
2) Complete the expression of Interest form
http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
3) Speak to the carer and arrange a meeting
4) House assessment is completed
5) Adoption is completed with a minimum 2 week cooling off period (similar to a trial but with legal protection)
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
