Meet Douglas, a handsome young boy with a gentle soul, a loyal heart and so much love to give.
Douglas came into the care of Northern Rivers Hoof & Hound after being found abandoned with his sister, Daisy. Despite his difficult start, he has remained a happy, trusting and affectionate young dog who simply wants to belong to a loving family.
Douglas originally arrived with his bonded sister, Daisy, and we're thrilled to share that she has recently found her forever home. Now it's Douglas' turn to find a family of his very own. He has settled beautifully into rescue, is thriving, and is more than ready to begin the next exciting chapter of his life.
Douglas is friendly, intelligent and eager to learn. He loves spending time with people, enjoys praise and affection, and is absolutely food motivated, making him a dream to train using positive reinforcement. At just 10 months old, he has enormous potential and will flourish with continued guidance, consistency and love.
With his gentle temperament and playful personality, Douglas would thrive in a home where he can enjoy regular exercise, mental enrichment and, most importantly, be included as part of the family. In return, he will reward you with unwavering loyalty, endless affection and plenty of laughs along the way.
Important Information:
Our attending veterinarian has recommended delaying Douglas' desexing until approximately 18 months of age to support his healthy growth and development.
As a condition of adoption, the successful adopter will be required to enter into Northern Rivers Hoof & Hound's Delayed Desexing Agreement. A refundable desexing bond applies and will be refunded once veterinary confirmation of the completed procedure has been provided.
Douglas is microchipped, vaccinated, health checked, and is now ready to meet the family who will give him the love, security and lifelong commitment he deserves.

Hoof & Hound Adoption Process:
Initial Enquiry – Prospective adopters submit an application via our website or email, providing information about their household, lifestyle, and experience with pets.
Screening & Interview – We review applications and conduct a phone or in-person interview to ensure a suitable match for the animal’s needs.
Home Check – For dogs and larger animals, a home visit is conducted to ensure the environment is safe, secure, and suitable.
Meet & Greet – The adopter meets the animal at our shelter/foster home to assess compatibility.
Adoption Agreement – Successful adopters sign an adoption contract outlining care requirements and follow-up support.
Follow-Up & Support – We provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition and successful long-term placement.
