About Wood Nymph
💚💙 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION — “WOOD NYMPH” aka DUNCAN 💙💚
There’s something quietly special about Duncan… the kind of soul who doesn’t burst into your life, but gently tiptoes in—and before you know it, he’s wrapped himself around your heart 💫
🐾 Meet Duncan
Breed: Cattledog Mix
Age: Approx. 9 months
Duncan is a sweet, sensitive young boy who is still finding his feet in the world. Initially a little reserved, he quickly softens with a kind voice… and maybe a treat or two in hand 🍪 Once he trusts you, his gentle nature shines through, and you’ll discover a loyal little shadow who just wants to be near his people.
At home, Duncan is a calm and easy companion. He enjoys a playful wrestle with his resident dog friend, but he’s just as happy soaking up the sunshine or lounging nearby while you go about your day ☀️
✨ Personality & Fun Quirks
• Loves chasing water from the hose (his version of pure joy 💦)
• Has a natural talent for scent work games
• Enjoys toys, though he tends to bounce between them rather than fixate on one
• Not bothered by thunderstorms
• Food motivated and eager to learn
🎓 Training & Progress
Duncan already knows sit and is learning to wait. He’s enthusiastic in training sessions and will thrive with continued positive reinforcement.
He didn’t come into care familiar with collars and leads, so he can feel overwhelmed by pressure around his neck. Because of this, he must be walked on a harness, where he feels much more secure. With patience and gentle guidance, he is making steady progress 💙
🚶♂️ Out & About
The outside world can still feel a little big and scary. Duncan is timid on walks and prefers to take things slow—pausing, observing, and sometimes retreating if unsure. Sudden movements or things approaching from behind can startle him, so he’ll need an adopter who understands that confidence-building is a journey, not a race 🌱
🏡 At Home
Duncan settles beautifully in a safe environment. He sleeps well overnight and can be left alone for short periods without distress, though he would benefit from someone being home more often initially to help him adjust and feel secure.
👶 Kids & Other Pets
• Kids: Has done well with calm introductions and gentle interactions. Best suited to older, dog-savvy children
• Dogs: Would love a calm, well-balanced canine companion to help guide him, though not essential
• Cats/Small Animals: Untested
🐶 Behaviour Notes
Duncan showed some resource guarding early on, likely from his past, but this has significantly improved as he’s learned he doesn’t need to compete. He now shares toys and treats without issue. In a new home, this may briefly resurface, but with consistency and reassurance, it should continue to fade.
💫 Duncan’s Ideal Home
• Calm, patient, and understanding
• Committed to ongoing training and confidence building
• Someone home more often initially (or flexible schedule)
• Harness walking only
• Possibly a calm canine companion
• Older children or adult-only home preferred
Duncan isn’t the kind of dog who will leap into your arms on day one… but give him time, and he’ll give you something far more special—trust, loyalty, and a love that feels quietly magical 🌸
💚💙 If you have the heart and patience to help this beautiful boy continue to blossom, we would love to hear from you 💙💚
