About Oro
Oro is a desexed male Domestic Shorthair available for adoption in Wyndham Vale (Melbourne, VIC).
Oro is not the first cat to greet you at the door. He is the one you'll find peering around the corner a little later, deciding whether you're worth his time — and when he decides you are, you'll know it meant something.
He is sensitive, intelligent and deeply sweet. Oro takes time to settle in, and the bond you'll build is genuinely worth it.
This is a cat who chooses his people carefully and loves them completely.
A little about Oro:
🐾 Gentle, intelligent and deeply affectionate on his own terms
🐾 Playful and cheeky once comfortable — especially at night
🐾 Loves chin scratches, string toys and his family
🐾 Takes time to warm up to new people and environments
🐾 Best suited to a calm, adult-only indoor home with feline company
Oro's days are quietly joyful. He spends most of them sleeping alongside his mum and brother, saving his energy for the evening when his playful side really comes out. Give him a piece of string and some space to be goofy, and he is in his element.
He has a wonderful habit of pushing his own limits — cautiously edging toward something new, then surprising himself by going for it. Watching him work up the courage to do something silly is one of his finest qualities.
With people he trusts, Oro shows affection in his own way — through play, proximity and the quiet satisfaction of choosing to be near you. It feels more meaningful for being earned. He will seek out play, accept chin scratches with great enthusiasm, and engage warmly when he is ready.
With unfamiliar people, Oro will find somewhere quiet to wait it out. He is not distressed — he is simply careful. Oro's current guardian found that with time and a calm environment, he blossomed into a truly connected companion. Every cat settles at their own pace — and Oro's is simply worth following.
Oro would thrive in a calm, adult-only indoor home where the pace is gentle and the people are patient. He does best with at least one feline companion by his side — ideally a familiar face. A home without dogs would suit him well.
Picture a quiet evening, a cat appearing from nowhere to bat a piece of string across the floor, then disappearing again with great satisfaction. That's Oro at his best — and it's worth every moment of the wait.
If you're someone who understands that the best things take a little time, Oro is ready to meet you.
💛 Oro is part of a little family. His mum, June-bug, and brother Billy are also looking for homes and can be adopted separately or together. Oro draws a lot of his confidence from his family — he would do best going to a home with at least one of them by his side. You can find their profiles here: June-bug — Billy

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
