Meet Scout, a 1-year-old Dachshund mix with a gentle soul, a loyal heart, and a whole lot of love to give 🐾💛

Scout is what we lovingly call a “slow burn” kind of dog. He may take a little time to build confidence and trust, but once he does… oh, he is something truly special. The kind of dog who will press his whole little body into you for cuddles and never want to leave your side — your very own velcro shadow ❤️

He is incredibly gentle, especially when taking treats, and absolutely loves his food (chicken is a firm favourite 🍗). Scout has met children aged 7–14 and has adored them all, showing his sweet and calm nature.

With other dogs, Scout has blossomed beautifully. While he was initially a little unsure, he has learned how to play and now happily initiates games and enjoys the company of his doggy friends. He currently lives peacefully alongside other dogs and would thrive with a confident canine companion to help guide him.

Scout has also had great exposure to cats, chickens, ducks, and even pigs. With consistent guidance, he has learned to remain calm and walk past them without issue — such a clever boy 💙

He travels beautifully in the car, is fully toilet trained (even waking his humans when he needs to go outside 🥹), and is very clean and low maintenance thanks to his short coat. He’s also perfectly happy having a bath.

Scout walks well on lead and, while still young and learning, he is eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance. He is a smart boy who truly wants to do the right thing.

Like many dogs who love deeply, Scout can struggle with separation anxiety and is very attached to his people. He is currently being crate trained, which has helped him settle, and he is learning that being alone is okay. Ongoing support, routine, and reassurance will help him continue to build confidence in this area.

Scout would suit:
• A loving, patient home willing to build his confidence
• A family who understands velcro dogs and can provide companionship
• A home with another friendly dog (ideal but not essential)
• Someone committed to continuing his training and routine
