Adoption information
About Rion & Paxton
Paxton and Rion are male Short-hair Guinea Pigs available for adoption in Phillip Bay (Sydney, NSW).
Paxton and Rion are a bonded pair of guinea pigs who have been together since 2021 — and it shows in the easy, unhurried way they share space. They graze side by side, nap in comfortable proximity, and bicker occasionally in the way only long-time companions can, before going straight back to whatever they were doing.
They are calm, sociable little animals who genuinely enjoy people. Neither is skittish with strangers — it's not the person that gives them pause, but an unfamiliar environment. Given a few days to find their rhythm in a new home, they settle in and get on with the business of being themselves.
A little about Paxton and Rion:
🐾 Bonded pair — have lived together since 2021 and must be adopted together
🐾 Both enjoy gentle pats and hand-feeding; prefer to stay on the ground rather than be carried
🐾 Paxton is the calm observer of the two — quiet, watchful, steady
🐾 Rion enjoys head rubs and leans into familiar hands with easy contentment
🐾 Rion is comfortable and active — his osteoarthritis is stable and managed with a straightforward monthly injection
Their days run on a companionable routine. Mornings bring the soft sounds of two guinea pigs stirring — a little shuffling, a little wheek-ing, a clear signal that breakfast is overdue. Afternoons, they'll often be found resting close together, Rion occasionally stealing a piece of Paxton's hay with the casual confidence of someone who's done it a thousand times before and knows nothing will come of it.
Paxton tends to hold back and assess before engaging — but once he's comfortable, he's a calm and steady presence who appreciates a quiet hello and a gentle hand. Rion is the more immediately tactile of the two, leaning into a familiar touch with an ease that feels like trust well-earned.
With new people, they take things at their own pace. Both warm naturally to calm, consistent interaction — and neither needs much convincing once they've decided you're alright.
This pair would flourish in a settled household where routines are predictable and their enclosure is a safe, comfortable base. They suit a guardian who finds real pleasure in routine companionship — the daily wheeks, the trust that builds slowly and then feels solid, the quiet rhythm of two animals who are simply, contentedly themselves.
They'd be well-matched with a guardian who can manage Rion's monthly injection schedule and enjoys the kind of companionship that deepens steadily over time.
Paxton and Rion's long-time neighbour Casper is also looking for a home — you can find his profile here: Casper
Five years of choosing each other — and now they're ready to choose you.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
