Meet Royal — known in foster care as Eddie — a majestic 3-year-old blue greyhound with the softest eyes and the goofiest heart. 👑🐾

Bred to race but apparently “too goofy” for the track, Royal decided early on that professional athlete life wasn’t for him. Instead, he chose a far more important career path: full-time love sponge.

And oh… does he love love.

Royal adores everyone. Strangers in the park? Future cuddle buddies. Children? Tiny humans to greet politely. Dogs of all sizes? Friends. Even when other dogs aren’t so polite, he remains calm and unbothered. He truly has the most relaxed, friendly nature and collects compliments everywhere he goes.

He’s clever too. Curious, highly trainable, and already knows some basic commands. His recall to a little “kissey noise” is beautifully reliable. From day two in foster care he was fully toilet trained and signals when he needs to go out — such a smart boy.

Living in an apartment, Royal enjoys regular short walks throughout the day and a longer walk or gentle jog to stretch those elegant legs. He sleeps a lot (classic greyhound life), but would absolutely thrive with access to a small yard to potter, snuffle and zoom in.

Since bonding closely with his foster carer, Royal has shown some separation anxiety when left alone. He has recently started medication alongside a structured training plan and is already improving. He will need a home committed to continuing this support. Ideally, he would suit someone home most of the time who can help him build confidence when alone.

His ideal home:
✨ Single person, couple, or family
✨ Children aged 5+ (he has experienced occasional sleep startle, so younger children won’t suit)
✨ Another friendly dog would be lovely, but not essential
✨ Not tested with cats in close proximity

Most of all, Royal wants to be close to his people. He truly believes he is a lap dog and will happily curl up beside — or on — you for the entire evening.
