About Baklava
Meet Baklava 🍯
Breed: Border Collie x Kelpie (Collpie)
Age: Approx. 7–10 years
Size: Medium
Baklava is the sweetest slice of love — a gentle, loyal senior girl with soulful eyes and a heart that melts into yours. She might be a little shy when you first meet, but once she knows she’s safe, she’ll glue herself to your side like the most devoted companion. Expect a furry shadow following you from room to room, curling up at your feet, and politely requesting cuddles (she’s convinced she’s a lap dog in disguise).
🌼 A Soft Soul with a Tender Heart
Baklava adores affection and thrives in a calm, loving environment. Loud household noises — like vacuums, hair dryers, or slamming doors — can make her nervous, and she may even shy away from brooms or hairbrushes. With gentle reassurance, she’s learning that the world isn’t so scary after all.
Her culinary preferences are as refined as her nature: plain kibble? Absolutely not. But mix it with wet food, rice, veggies, or stock, and she’s delighted. She’s also a connoisseur of snacks — pigs’ ears, chicken necks, smoked trotters, and salmon skins are all winners (and, hilariously, she’s a bit of a Reject Shop pigs’ ear snob). Because she finds human food oh-so-tempting, a home with clear dinner-time boundaries will suit her best.
🐶 A Clever Girl with Polite Manners
Baklava has excellent house manners and is fully toilet trained. She knows several commands including “out” (to stay out of certain spaces), “on your bed/mat,” “gently,” “nicely,” and her personal best: “go wee!” She’s still polishing up on “sit,” “wait,” and “lie down,” and her dinner-time etiquette — but her eagerness to please makes training a rewarding journey.
✅ Great with respectful children (tested with tweens, likely fine with younger kids too)
❓ Untested with cats, but has lived with rabbits and mostly ignored them
🐕 Dog selective — prefers to be an only dog or live with a calm, compatible friend
🏡 Comfortable being left home alone for up to 5 hours
🐕🦺 Training Needs & Quirks
Baklava can be lead reactive, especially when anxious or excited. She may pull at first, but once her big emotions settle, she relaxes into a gentle, easy walk. Ongoing training and confidence-building will help her shine on walks.
She currently has no road sense and is learning to “sit” before crossing — more training here will also be important. Her communication style is subtle: she rarely barks, and when she needs to go outside, she’ll softly whimper or cry.
🚗 Car Rides & Daily Life
A huge milestone for this brave girl — she’s overcome her fear of the car and now hops in willingly! She does, however, get a bit queasy on longer trips (after 20–30 minutes), so short, positive car experiences are best.
Baklava loves a gentle half-hour stroll in the morning and will happily snooze the day away beside you afterward. An afternoon walk is a bonus, but not essential. She’s a laid-back girl who enjoys quiet companionship and simple pleasures over wild adventures.
🩺 Health Notes

💛 The Perfect Match
Baklava’s dream home is one filled with patience, gentleness, and endless love. She would be perfect for someone retired, working from home, or part-time, who’s looking for a devoted companion to share their days with. Once she bonds with you, her love runs deep — a true “superglue” dog who will cherish every moment by your side.
With her kind eyes, gentle soul, and heart of gold, Baklava is ready to spend her golden years wrapped in love. Could that be with you? 💕
