Begonia

Hi everyone, I'm Begonia, but you can call me Jake—many say it suits my personality! I'm a 10-12 month old Staffy x Heeler x Jack Russell mix (maybe with a little Labrador), and I weigh 22kg.

I love life, my people, cuddles, belly rubs, food, zoomies, and splashing in my water bowl—sometimes I get a bit carried away and leave it empty!

My foster family describes me as sweet, happy, and a little goofy, but also determined. They say I thrive with love, kindness, and clear boundaries.

I wasn’t toilet trained when I arrived, but I’m doing really well now—just a couple of accidents here and there!

I enjoy playing with other dogs, and while I don’t need to be adopted with one, I’d love a doggy friend or a family where someone is home more often than not to keep me company.

I’m very attached to my family and experience mild separation anxiety. I’d do best with someone who can spend plenty of time with me—I’ve lost a few cushions in the past when feeling anxious!

I walk very well on lead, though sometimes I need a little reminder not to pull—I get excited and love to explore!

I’m friendly and happy to meet most people, though occasionally I prefer to take my time warming up. Just let me say hello at my own pace.

I am highly food-driven and super smart! I’ve already mastered sit, drop, stay, and come, and I’m learning that heel is a position (still working on that one!). My foster mum says I’m a bit goofy, but I’m just living life as a fun-loving teenager.

My foster family thinks I’d love obedience training, and I’d likely enjoy agility, camping, or hiking.

I’ve met children and done great with them, though I think kids 7 years and older would suit me best.

I’ve also met cats—I let them rub against me, but if one runs, my instincts kick in and I want to chase. I’d do fine with a dog-savvy cat.

My ideal home? An active family who will take me on adventures and involve me in their lives while also loving a good snuggle at night. A doggy friend or a family with someone home often would help me thrive!
