About Almirante
Introducing the stunning Almirante, an 11 month old female German Shepherd mix who pulls at our heartstrings.
Almirante is a special girl with a very sensitive, emotional personality. She is not a dog that will tolerate an assertive, very dominant family. She will simply shut down in fear.
This girl must be rehomed to a home with atleast one other friendly, active dog. MPDR will not accept any applications without dogs. She relies on dogs heavily for support.
Almirante has lived in a home with cats and dogs and is comfortable snuggling up to each of them. She is particularly animal friendly including livestock. We have not witnessed a prey drive in her yet.
At 11 months old, she is still a puppy and trying to understand the world, commands and what her owners expect of her. If she becomes overwhelmed, confused or scared she will growl.
Almirante requires a patient, gentle family who will be willing to understand when she becomes overwhelmed or confused. They will be able to understand how best to communicate their wishes to her in a gentle, calm manner.
Almirante has lived in both a city and farm life and it shows that she adores galloping around with the other dogs, ignoring the horses. She would be a wonderful dog for people on acreage.
Due to her "stranger danger" growling which occurs when she is overwhelmed, we do not recommend her with young children. We want her life to be as comfortable as possible in her forever home.
Almirante is a smart girl and picks up training super fast. She is very dog friendly and appears to blend in to multiple dog households seamlessly.
If you live on acreage, have active, friendly dog/s and are gentle, calm people, Almirante may be the girl for you. She will find confidence in her doggy family and become a playful, loyal member of your family.
