About Nutcracker
“He’s Nutcracker, our delightful doggy mate,
With ears that stand tall and a tail that’s stumpy straight.
Like the Nutcracker prince, he’s sweet and brave,
Looking for a loving home, his heart you’ll crave.”
Nutcracker, affectionately known as Crackers, is a spunky stumpy-tail heeler cross. With those beautiful big ears, he might have a bit of foxy in him. We believe Crackers is around 10 to 11 months old.
Crackers is a very sweet-natured boy who loves a cuddle and a tummy rub. He's happiest snuggled up on the couch with his favorite human or canine friend.
Crackers gets along well with other dogs of all breeds but tends to be submissive to more aggressive, loud, barky personalities. Loud noises and barking can make him a little nervous. He is used to cats and will pay them minimal attention unless they run; then, he sees it as an invitation to play. He seems fascinated with small children but hasn't had much contact with them. However, he loves his teenage buddies.
Crackers will rumble and play all day with another dog, so having a mate would be a bonus and a benefit for him. He's also okay being left outside on his own for a few hours and enjoys laying in the sun. Crackers is known to bark at strangers but will only bark until the visitor is known.
Crackers is very food-driven and easy to train. He has already learned commands like sit and stay and has fairly good recall. With his smarts, he'd be easy to train further. He LOVES his food—a slow feeder is recommended for this speedy eater. Just a heads up: don't leave a chicken curry dinner unattended on the table—Crackers might take a little liberty with chairs and tasty dishes!
Crackers walks beautifully on a lead and is very inquisitive in new places with new smells. He enjoys his walks but needs a bit more conditioning to love the car. Treats help, and once inside, he travels well.
Crackers is mostly toilet trained. He will wee on command outside with the phrase "wees and poos" but still has some mishaps inside. He needs a bit more training in this area.
Nutcracker would love to find his very own home where he can be cherished. He’s sure to be an absolute delight to have around!
