About Vinka and Sadie
Sadie and Vinka
This mumma (7yrs) and daughter (2yrs) bonded pair have been an absolute delight in foster care. Their chief requirements are lots of cuddles and plenty of food.
They are good eaters but do need to be fed separately and out of sight of each other, so that each can relax and enjoy their meal.
They are huge snugglers and will push each other out of the way to claim their favourite lap. They like a big bed to sleep in together at night so each has room to sprawl out and they like a blanket to snuggle beneath. They are awake early to toilet, but then are happy to return to bed to snooze until breakfast is ready (unless there’s someone on the couch, in which case, they’ll gladly nap on a lap until breakfast).
They came into care extremely timid with little understanding of the outside world. Vinka is the more confident of the two and has adapted more easily than Sadie.
Vinka seems to be part mountain goat and has been known to climb onto the dining table via a chair to check for leftovers.
Sadie is still somewhat fearful of unknown things, although now responds well to verbal reassurance from someone she trusts. Both girls respond best to soft gentle voices.
They are pros at using pee pads and don’t like to toilet outside after dark.
They have adored everyone they have met while in care and weren’t even fazed about tradies working in the house. A quick hello and a few sniffs, and they’re off to do their own thing.
Vinka and Sadie are comfortable around small dogs. However they can react unpredictably when meeting new dogs while on leads.
Both girls travel well in the car.
Their ideal home would include someone who is willing to let them spend lots of time on a lap, a reasonably quiet household without little ones. A family who is understanding of their timid natures and willing to work with them to help them be the best dogs they can.
They love to chase birds and lizards, so require a home without pocket pets.
They have not been exposed to cats while in care.
Medical notes
Medical notes for Sadie and Vinka
7 year old Sadie and 3 year old Vinka have both been desexed and microchipped. They are up-to-date with vaccinations, as well as flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
Both girls have been fully checked by our vet and had dental scale and polishes.
Sadie will benefit from some joint support as she ages to help with arthritis.
Vinka has had both patellas repaired and had cruciate ligament surgery on her left hind leg - all in the past 6 months. She has made a full recovery and is ready to be adopted. She will also benefit from joint support after several orthopaedic surgeries.
