Alaska is a senior sweetheart with an infectious zest for life. Despite her age, she exudes boundless energy and a youthful spirit, often behaving more like a sprightly 5-year-old than a senior dog. Her happiness is palpable, and her playful nature can bring a smile to anyone's face.
Good Habits:
Playfulness: Alaska loves to engage in playful activities and enjoys every moment of it.
Short Walks: She eagerly looks forward to short walks, relishing the opportunity to explore and sniff her surroundings.
Morning and Evening Activity: She's most active during the early morning and evenings, often expressing her joy through chats and howls.
Treats: While she adores treats, she can only have dry ones as jerky treats upset her stomach.
Basic Commands: Alaska is proficient in basic commands like sit and drop.
Diet: She maintains a strict diet of dry biscuits, specifically Eukanuba Senior.
Wade Pool: After her walks, Alaska enjoys cooling off in a wade pool.
Car Travel: She's well-behaved in the car, using a harness for safety.
Gentle Greeting: Instead of jumping up, Alaska expresses her excitement by bouncing in front of you.
Bad Habits:
Not Dog-Friendly: Alaska is not friendly towards other dogs, requiring careful management during walks.
Tendency to Run Away: If given the chance, she may run away if off-leash or out of the yard, and doesn't respond when called.
Deaf and Blind: Due to her age, Alaska has some degree of hearing and vision loss, though it doesn't seem to affect her much.
Ideal Home: Alaska would thrive in a calm and loving home where her playful nature can be embraced. A family willing to accommodate her specific needs, including her aversion to other dogs and her requirement for short, leisurely walks, would be ideal. Patience and understanding of her age-related challenges, such as hearing and vision loss, are crucial. Despite her quirks, Alaska's joyful spirit and affectionate demeanor make her a lovable companion for the right person or family.
Note: Given Alaska's age and need for specialized care, potential adopters should consider her requirements carefully and be prepared to provide her with the love and attention she deserves in her golden years.
