About Dudley - 8 Month Old Great Dane X
Dear Dudley's New Family,
As Dudley’s foster Mum I take great pride in introducing you to our dopey, delightful foster dog Dudley.
Left abandoned by people who are supposed to take care of him, we welcomed him into our home so he could begin a new chapter.
As you would expect from a dog whose family left him, he had separation anxiety and did not cope well when we left the house. Luckily, he had his foster sister and brother here to help ease that for the times we were out. He gets along with them famously. He is boisterous and playful, as all puppies are, but very dog friendly. I do not see Dudley in a home as an only dog. He loves company and companionship, and another dog will give him the best chance at assimilating into his new home.
I know there are a lot of people out there who will love Dudley like he deserves but to ensure his safety you must have a minimum of 6ft secure fencing. In moments of defiance, we discovered that Dudley could leap over a 4.5ft fence like it was nothing. And while he is not a natural escape artist, if you do leave it is imperative he remains safe while you are out.
Dudley is my shadow. He spends his days relaxing in my office with the occasional trip outside while we work on house training (which he is excelling at) and at nights he sleeps next to my bed. However, if my son has a scotch finger my shadow changes drastically and he will follow my son around in the vague hope of finding a crumb.
What some might call a disability, we call it part of Dudley’s charm and character. Dudley has been diagnosed blind in one eye and with possible photophobia (a sensitivity to light). This doesn’t affect too much of his day-to-day life, but there is the occasional moment that he will run into a wall if he isn’t concentrating. His new family will need to be aware that while there are no direct effects yet, as he gets older the sensitivity may become worse and he may need assistance in his everyday life. You will need to be committed to that.
“The only creatures evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs.” - Johnny Depp
Dudley is pure love. He is big love. He is unconditional love, for those willing to commit the time to welcoming him and raising him. He is big commitment but with big reward. He will be a big part of my heart forever, but I will be at peace if he finds his big, loving new family.
Yours truly,
Dudley “Dudders” Foster Mum…
To register your interest in adopting Dudley you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au or www.petrescue.com.au

This organisation's adoption policy is moderate. What does this mean?
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) After that we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home, nearby park or your home.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
