About Vincent Crabbe
Introducing Vincent Crabbe, the lovable and cuddly chap who's looking for a forever home. Vinnie is approximately 18 months old, appears to be a boxer/wolfhound cross, and weighs 25kg. He was a much-loved pet of a family who surrendered him due to the 'cost of living crisis' and has been loved in his previous household. He therefore found himself in a rural NSW and was rescued by the MPDR.
Vincent Crabbe is a fast learner and has quickly picked up on good manners with clear and consistent guidance, including walking nicely on a leash, being polite during mealtimes, and greeting people calmly. Vinnie has already learned some basic commands, such as "sit," and has been practising "down" and "recall" consistently since coming into foster care. He's also fully toilet trained and knows how to use a doggie door and ride in a car.
"Vinnie" is keen to please and highly food motivated, making training easy with positive reinforcement and consistency. He has quickly learned house rules and boundaries, such as not entering the kitchen or getting on the sofa without an invitation. Although he may occasionally test the rules, he's eager to please and is enthusiastically learning suburban life, enjoying new experiences such as visiting Bunnings, water fountains, and playgrounds.
Vincent Crabbe can get nervous and easily distracted outside the home, so he needs a calm and confident leader to guide him and help him understand the world.
Currently, Vinnie is in a single-dog household, but he would ideally love to share his home with another doggy friend. He's shown some signs of separation anxiety when left alone, whining and pacing, and digging holes in the garden. However, in his previous foster home, where there were other dogs, he was okay when left alone for extended periods.
Vinnie has not been tested with cats, but he saw some during his vet visit and calmly watched them. He also saw some sheep not too far away and showed no signs of aggression.
Vinnie has been great with the two young children (aged 3 & 6) in his current foster home, and although he can get excited during playtime and there would be a risk of him bumping or knocking over very young children in these situations. He loves playing fetch with the kids and watching them while they play their games inside.
If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Vinnie will make an excellent addition to your family. He doesn't require a high-activity household as long as he gets his daily walk and loves mental stimulation through play and training. What matters most to Vinnie is spending time with his forever humans, cuddling up and receiving all the love he deserves. A loyal and affectionate furry friend, Vinnie, waits to fill your home with love and joy.
