About Atlantis
Atlantis is such an amazing pup! Despite being blind from birth, she has an incredible sense of confidence and a knack for adapting to her surroundings. With her adorable bat-sized ears and keen attention to smells and textures, Atlantis quickly creates a mental map of her environment and zips around effortlessly, even tackling stairs and obstacles like a pro. Even if she accidentally bumps into things that move, she simply shakes it off and keeps going with her resilient spirit.
This spunky little lady thrives on having a predictable routine and has settled in wonderfully with set wake-up, training, and nap times. She absolutely adores going for short walks on her bungee lead and easily follows the sound of your footsteps, making it a breeze to keep up with you. When walking on busier roads, Atlantis attentively listens for your voice and will eagerly follow a treat anywhere.
Atlantis is incredibly clever and absolutely adores food, so she has already mastered commands like sit, down, recall (to "pup pup"), "careful" to slow down and watch for obstacles, "up" and "off" for stairs, "STOP" for emergency stop and return (which also helps prevent excessive barking or rough play).
Her ideal forever home would be with a family who has someone around most of the time, with predictable work hours. She loves playing and resting with kids, although due to her occasional bumps, she would be best suited for children over 5. Providing her with a crate or bean bag where she can have her own safe space to nap would be perfect. Atlantis would thrive as a solo dog or would enjoy the company of a calmer, patient middle-aged dog who doesn't mind her missing visual play cues.
Despite her youthful spirit, Atlantis is still a puppy at heart, always ready for playtime and filled with energy. However, she also loves snuggling up for long, extended naps. This eager young lady is ready to learn everything she needs to become the best dog she can be, so enrolling her in puppy school would be a fantastic way to satisfy her curious nature and further enforce her manners.
With her contagious enthusiasm and love for life, Atlantis would make a marvelous addition to any loving home. She is guaranteed to keep you entertained with her playful antics and zest for adventure. In return, all she asks for are some toys and treats, belly rubs, and a warm, affectionate home where she can flourish and grow.
When you bring Atlantis into your life, you'll gain a devoted companion who is excited to take on every journey with you—whether it's a fun day out walking, playing games, or a cozy evening in front of the TV. She is eagerly waiting to meet you and begin her life as your new best friend. So, if you're ready to open your hearts and give Atlantis the loving home she deserves, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us today. Atlantis and her ears will be thrilled to meet you!
Medical notes
Atlantis is completely blind - she was born this way.
Adoption details
Regardless of the breed of animal you are looking to adopt, our adoption process is the same.
The first step of the process involves submitting an adoption application form. The form helps us understand a little bit more about you and your household and is used to figure out whether animal is the right fit for your household and what you are looking for, and also if your household is the right fit for the animal.
After a review process, shortlisted applicants will be contacted by one of our volunteer adoption coordinators usually by phone call or message. This is an informal conversation to discuss any questions we may have about the application and re-confirm any information provided. It is usually at at this point that we will organise a Meet & Greet with you and the animal.
It is a Strong Heart’s adoption policy to arrange a Meet & Greet with the prospective family and the animal before finalising the adoption. The Meet & Greet will allow the opportunity to visit the animal and have a pat and a play with them. The foster carer will tell you a bit about the animal's personality and what they have been like for the time they’ve been in their care. It is a great opportunity to ask the carer about the animals food, sleeping and any other health requirements.
If the Meet & Greet goes well on the day, in most cases you will be able to take the animal home straight away after payment of the adoption fee. All necessary paperwork including vet work history and transfer of ownership information will be sent via email within a few days unless otherwise specified.
