About Hematite
Let me introduce you to the sweetest young girl Hematite, known as April in foster care. She is a Kelpie x, I think there is a bit of Whippet in her, but who knows and is about 2 yrs old and is looking for the next chapter in her life, a forever family to love and spoil her.
Hematite’s story is quite sad as she has experienced trauma in her previous home, which is why she can be a little timid at first. It does take a little time to warm up and become comfortable and trusting, so please be patient, as it will be worth it.
Hematite loves to follow you around, but I guess that’s the working breed, you can’t go past a velcro dog! She also has shown no signs of nipping. She loves to learn and generally pays attention to commands. Hematite is currently sharing a house with two blue heelers and three cats, so she could go to a home with other animals.
She listens when told to be gentle with the cats and to stop annoying them as she thinks they might play with her, but they’re cats! Her younger foster sister Roo and her love to play and wrestle, so probably a home with another animal for company.
She is wary of men and will follow the female of the household around everywhere. I do believe it will only be a few days to a week before she is comfortable with the men.
She is quite smart and shouldn’t take long to be the most perfect family member, as she is already nearly there, with more guidance from her forever family. She loves going for walks and recently went to the beach and absolutely loved it. She’s had visitors meeting her giving her toys, which she loves and going visiting and she has taken it all very gracefully.
If you believe you can offer Hemitite a forever home, with patience and training to allow her to blossom into the dog we know she can be, please apply for her!
