About Catya
Catya (Countess of Cat) came to Hazelbrook Cat Shelter from a colony in which residents were attempting to get rid of local strays by poisoning their food. Catya remains somewhat wary of humans, but she has made great strides in foster care. She is a sweet, quiet, curious girl who sleeps most of the time but is slowly learning to play and interact. Catya has a beautiful, healthy coat of dark brown, cream and caramel. She has one clouded eye, perhaps due to an injury sustained on the streets, but this only adds to her mystery and majesty. Catya loves comfort, food (esp. licking creamy treats off fingers) and watching CatTV. Her favourite videos are of other cats, but she also likes chasing onscreen mice and foxes. Catya would flourish in a quiet household with sensitive and patient human companions. A feline companion may also assist with Catya's rehabilitation.

Adoption details
Begin by reading our adoption FAQs on our website, here:
https://hazelbrookcatshelter.com.au
If you’d like to proceed, fill out an adoption application on our website. Tell us about yourself and the type of cat(s) you are looking for. Feel free to list specific cats that you are interested in, but it is not necessary. Our goal is to be a matchmaker and help you find the right cat for your family and lifestyle.
If we approve your application, will then arrange a video house interview with one of our adoption councillors. This goes for about 15 minutes.
We then arrange a time to meet the cat in person, either at our shelter or their home with their foster carer. Please note we do not move cats from their known environmnent for a meeting.
If all goes well, you can complete the adoption agreement form and pay the adoption fee.
Once the adoption fee has been received, you can take your cat home and begin your 2-week adoption trial.
During this trial, you may return the cat for any reason. Medical expenses will also be covered by our charity. 50% of the adoption fee can be returned if the adoption trial doesn’t work out. It is our requirement that all cats are vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, and flea-and-worm protected prior to this trial, with all their paperwork handed over when collecting your cat.
We provide support as needed around introducing a new cat to your home.
