About Mishka
Mishka may be approaching to be a mature-aged dog, but she is mistaken to be a puppy by her vitality and vigour - talk about a catfish! She is a Kelpie, German Shepherd and Husky cross. She has the body of a small Kelpie being roughly 21kg, the tail of a German Shepherd and the rarely-heard vocals of a Husky. She is quite the introvert and after guidance and a few meetings with new people, she will show you that her love language is Licks! She is very food motivated and is eager to work, has good obedience and can be taught new tricks and cues even at this age.
Mishka is adaptable to different routines. She does not have any separation anxiety and is currently living with a foster carer who works full-time doing shift work. When left alone at home, you will find her napping or sunbathing until your return. The space of your home or yard would not worry Mishka if you can fulfil her with a daily walk and a play or chew treat. She does not display any destructive behaviours (besides the odd toy shredding), she does not have resource guarding, she has no issues being groomed (cutting nails, ears being cleaned, being bathed or wearing clothing). If you love vacuuming - she is the perfect house member as she has no qualms with the vacuum. Mishka is crate trained and muzzled trained. A walk with Mishka is pleasant as she sniffs her favourite spots and does not pull, but walks with purpose!
Being an introvert and from her possibly being under socialized in her original home - she needs to be an only pet. Mishka does not find joy in other dogs, she only tolerates them and can be fearful of them. She needs a family who will not expect her to be a 'cafe'/'beach' or dog-social dog or who expects her to participate in dog-heavy events. Her new family should be enthusiastic to continue the techniques she has learned to continue her manageable journey when coming across other dogs.
Mishka has come a long way in foster care with training and being on behavioural medication which has helped her immensely in situations she used to find stressful such as children and other dogs. Therefore, a family who is open to Mishka being on economical medication is a must. Mishka thrives on consistent and clear communication and functions well with boundaries and structure. She would love a calm and affectionate family. Will you be the family to mature Mishka into her golden years?
