About Charlie Brown
There is so much to say about this entire litter! These guys are so much fun to have around but don’t let that fool you - you’ll need to watch them carefully as they’re very naughty little kittens who seem to think that everything is a toy!
Charlie Brown AKA Charlie AKA Tiny Eyes is a sweet, adorable little flame point kitten with the most adorable teeny-tiny eyes. That doesn’t let exploring stop him and despite his lack of awareness that he has whiskers to help him navigate his surroundings, he’ll frequently bump into walls, fall off the side of scratching posts and run head first into things. He’ll shake it off and turn around and get on with his thing though - it certainly does not slow him down at all!
Charlie has a condition called microphthalmia which is (or can be) a congenital condition. It can also be the result of his mother, Marcie, having an infection whilst she was pregnant. Either way, this little guy is going to be snipped and will be ball-less and flawless and there wont be any worry about him passing this one to any others! We do believe that Charlie is vision impaired to some degree, he can certainly see shadows and likes having light in his surroundings. Once he’s fallen off the scratching post once or twice he figures out how far he can safely go! Microphthalmia can sometimes lead to problems in the future like worsening vision or cataracts but for this guy; so far - so good!
Charlie will need a family with another pet - be it dog or cat - to help him navigate his surroundings. When he’s separated from his siblings he’s okay when he knows where he is but he’ll easily get lost in new environments and cry out for help. Charlie likes being held tightly, but doesn’t like to be carried around at a hight and will cry to be put down. We think that this is because he struggles with depth in regards to his vision. Charlie will need a STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY HOME to keep him safe - not just because of his vision but because he’s just too adorable and fair ‘skinned’ and will be at a much higher risk of skin cancer. Charlie is available for adoption with one of his siblings or his gorgeous mother, Marcie, who is an absolute gem. At least he’ll stay off the countertops, right!?
Charlie loves to sit on your lap or by your side..or behind your shoulders on the couch where he’ll play with your hair or the tag on your shirt. He’ll fall asleep quickly and is content as can be. Once he’s up and about he’s running around and loves toys, especially those with a bell or another kind of sound that he seems to follow with complete accuracy. Charlie has found ways to adapt to his vision impairment and knows no different.
Charlie hasn’t had any eye issues whilst in care and is growing normally. Marcie is doing a fantastic job weaning her kittens and teaching them all the right things! Despite all of the obstacles he’s had to overcome, Charlie is fantastic with the litter box and hasn’t once (touch wood!) going outside of the litter tray.
Charlie’s ideal home would be one with another cat or cat-friendly dog who will show him the ropes. He will not be available for adoption to a home as a single cat or to a home where he will be allowed outside. In regards to introducing him to his surroundings, he seems to have adjusted well to being thrown into a new environment to work things out. A few cries here and there, getting stuck behind furniture where it’s a little dark or getting stuck in the middle of a large room will be where he struggles the most. He and his mother are a great pair and it would be wonderful to see them go to a home together!
Charlie is booked in for his desexing surgery on December 11th 2023 and once recovered he will be available for his forever home. He is completely weaned from his mother and is now just learning all his cat manners from her!
Charlie will make an excellent addition to the right family who is understanding of his needs. He is great with other cats, people, dogs and wo
