About Louie - Located in Preston
Hello there, potential adopter. Name's Louie, and I've reached the age where I've earned the right to be a bit of a curmudgeon. Now, don't be fooled by my initial standoffish vibe—I'm just selective about who gets to enjoy the pleasure of my company.
I've been around the block, seen a few things, and now I'm on the lookout for a cozy spot to call my own. I crave a peaceful haven, preferably with a human who understands the art of quiet companionship. I'm not one for the hustle and bustle; retirement suits me just fine.
Sure, I might come off a tad shy at first, but give me some time, and you'll witness the grand reveal of my larger-than-life personality. I've fully embraced the role of the grumpy old man, and if there were youngsters around, you bet I'd have a list of grievances longer than my whiskers.
Cuddling is my forte, and I've perfected the art of the couch nap. I may jump onto your lap for a snooze or claim a spot in bed right next to you. I've got a warm heart beneath this gruff exterior, and I'm not afraid to show it. Now, I'm not saying I'm an attention hog, but I do like to know you're around, even when I'm pretending to be in deep slumber.
Routine is my middle name, and I'll make sure you're on board with our communal self-care. Couch relaxation and early bedtimes are non-negotiable. I'm not into flashy toys or extravagant setups; just keep my water filled, my litter clean, and provide some dark, quiet nooks for my naps.
Now, let's talk about visitors. Not my cup of tea. I'd rather sneak off for a peaceful nap than deal with the fuss. And let's be clear—I'm not a fan of kids or other pets. It's just too much commotion for an old soul like me.
If you're looking for a reclusive, cranky senior to share your space, I'm your feline. Together, we can revel in the simplicity of a comfy home, enjoy our peace, and make the solitude a little less lonely. Plus, did I mention my coat is like a velvet masterpiece? And when I purr, there's a chance I might fall asleep and start snoring. It's quite the spectacle—I promise it'll add some humor to your days. So, what do you say? Ready for a grumpy but lovable companion like me?

Medical notes
Louie has Hypertension/High Blood Pressure. He requires a daily medication to help control this condition and a vet visit every 6 months to have his blood pressure tested for monitoring.
This medication is important as when his blood pressure is not controlled it causes damage to his heart and kidneys. Louie has low level renal disease and a heart murmer caused by Hypertrophy Cardiomyopathy (because of his blood pressure) both of these conditions are currently stable.
He is on a prescription diet to help support his kidney and heart health, and his vets have recommended a repeat Echo scan of his heart in November 2024 to monitor his condition.
WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
