About Muscles
đĄ RETIREMENT HOME NEEDED đĄ
⨠Mature Man Muscles â¨
Muscles is a lovely older gentleman who at 10 years old has found himself at the pound.
HOUSEHOLD- We are looking for a retirement home for Muscles, one where he can lounge around all day with his people.
Muscles gets very stressed when he is alone in his kennel. When Muscles comes into the office to hang out with staff he literally spreads himself out on the floor, back legs out and relaxes.
Muscles needs a home with a retired person or couple, or someone who is home most of the time. Muscles wonât suit being left outside all day on his own in a backyard.
Muscles would be fine around kids who understand the needs of having an older dog and the behaviour requirements from them in caring for one.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Muscles knows his basic commands and at 10 years old doesnât really need any ongoing training.
ON LEAD- Muscles can pull initially on the lead but it doesnât last long and is only when he first gets out of his kennel as he canât wait to leave it.
When Muscles sees another dog he will also pull you towards them because he wants to say hello. Once his initial interaction is done he settles down again pretty quickly.
PLAY/TOYS- Muscles seems to want to interact with toys but is too distracted by the pound environment. His new family will probably find that once he is settled in a home he will be interested in toys.
OTHER DOGS- Muscles is fine in the company of other dogs. He always wants to approach other dogs and say hello, give them a little bit of interaction and then move along with his day.
Even though Muscles tolerates the more playful and boisterous dogs for the most part, if they push the friendship too far he does give them a little grumble to tell them enough is enough.
Muscles would be suited to be in an a home with another dog who is also enjoying their retirement or in an only dog home.
Muscles wonât be suited to a home with younger, playful dogs.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Muscles was far more interesting in sniffing around the room than giving the cats any attention when he was in the cattery.
Muscles might be fine to co exist with a feline who is used to dogs and wonât be overly affectionate towards Muscles. A slow introduction would always be needed and continued supervision until the relationship is established.
CARE/GROOMING- Muscles is a wriggle worm when it comes to handling. He has no issues with you picking him up or checking him over but he wonât sit still for long.
EXERCISE- Muscles doesnât need much exercise, he doesnât have a lot of stamina and would be fine with a short stroll.
Staff tried to initiate a game with Muscles and he did a little jump and a zoomie and that was all he could manage.
NUTRITION- Muscles is currently underweight and is getting three meals a day. He will require a high calorie food that is specific for senior dogs. Muscles would also benefit from a joint supplement being added to his food daily.
HEALTH- Being a older man Muscles does have a few ailments. He has some cataracts in both of his eyes, however can still see well. He has a few lumps and bumps on his body which have already been vet checked and appear to be nothing serious.
Muscles has recently had a dental clean & polish.
BREED - Beautiful 10 Year Old American Staffy x
