We’re incredibly happy to report that the PetRescue and PETstock National Pet Adoption Day was a smashing success. Not only did this epic event massively bolster adoption awareness across the nation, but so many lucky rescue pets found their fur-ever homes, and their rescue groups got the opportunity to promote their work in their local communities!
Over 650 rescue pets, including 507 cuddly cats and 159 delightful doggos across Australia found new homes on the big day via PETstock stores. And the love continued to pour for rescue pets throughout February, with over 400 pets being adopted after the event - bringing the total number of February in-store adoptions to a whopping 1000+!
Victoria facilitated some of the highest numbers with 181 adoptions followed by Queensland with 159 and NSW with 149.
And the media hearts pets! We teamed up with the comms agency Communicado to put rescue and pet adoption front and centre in the nation's biggest media outlets! The PetRescue and PETstock National Pet Adoption Day garnered some impressive media coverage, and we were bowled over by all the love rescue pets got on all different mediums including TV, radio, print, social, and online news.

One of the many rescue pets who found love on the day was Ginger the cat, whose story is nothing short of a fairytale. Curious? Read Ginger’s unique happy tail here.
