How to enquire about a pet

So you've spotted a pet who might be the one? That's pawsome! 💚

The next step is to contact the rescue organisation, shelter or council caring for the pet to find out more.

How to contact the rescue

You'll find the pet's contact details and adoption information at the bottom of their profile.

For the quickest response, use the preferred contact method listed on the pet's profile, as this can vary between organisations.

• If they prefer phone: Call the number provided on the pet's profile.

• If they prefer email: Click the Enquire about this pet button above the pet's profile picture.

Send an enquiry through PetRescue

Sign in or create a free PetRescue account. Completing your adopter profile lets you share useful information about yourself and your home.

Select Enquire on the pet's profile. Check the details drawn from your adopter profile, add a personal message and send your enquiry to the organisation handling the listing. You can return to your conversations to find messages about that pet.

The pet's adoption details may ask you to complete a separate form or use another contact method. Follow those instructions too. A PetRescue account is for enquiries sent through the platform; it isn't a requirement for making a phone call.

What happens next?

Every PetRescue member organisation sets its own adoption process and fees, so you'll need to contact them directly for specific information about the pet you're interested in.

The process will usually involve:

1. Having a chat with the rescue organisation or completing a pre-adoption questionnaire.

2. Organising a meet-and-greet with the pet.

3. Completing the adoption paperwork.

The process can vary, so don't worry if your experience looks a little different.
