How does interstate adoption work?

Some rescue organisations offer interstate adoption, while others don’t. Check the individual pet’s profile and enquire with the organisation caring for the pet before making travel plans.

If interstate adoption is available, the rescue organisation will let you know what its adoption process requires. It’s best to wait until the organisation has confirmed the adoption arrangements before booking transport.

Who pays for pet transport?

Generally, relocation costs are paid by the adopter unless the rescue organisation tells you otherwise.

PetRescue member rescue organisations can apply for Jetpets Free Flights for eligible pets in their care. The rescue organisation — not the adopter — needs to make the application.
